3m1/3Mike MooreOkay, let's go ahead with um let's start with C six, Commissioner Starkey.
Kathryn StarkeyUh could someone talk to me about what's going on um with these changes. I trying to understand the map. Is our
It says something about the market. The map. Maybe R things hopefully from
No uh Wanna know?
Unidentified speakerVoice AMr. David Goldstein, I d I didn't quite understand the question.
Kathryn StarkeyThe chain it looks like the changes have to do with the playground and the community garden locations.
Unidentified speakerVoice ASo so there was a there previously was an outdoor um playground and play field, but that area has now been taken up by some of the outdoor track and fields and uh other recreational facilities. So the school recommended that we move the playground to the gymnasium. So that's Next to the gymnasium that the parks is going to
Um can you put up the map? Are we able to look at the map? Uh and um is that gonna be behind a fence or outside of a fence?
It's it's not it's not gonna be fenced because the access to the gymnasium is also not gonna be fenced. That's my own. But but Keith Wiley's probably better to answer some of these questions because he's been involved more in the um the details of this type plan.
Kathryn StarkeyWho did you say I'm sorry?
Unidentified speakerVoice AOr Ke Keith Wiley or Kathryn Pearson will probably answer these questions better as to how they're gonna deal with the I mean that's what
Mike Mooreis wrong. So Keith's on the line if Commissioner Starkey if you'd like Keith to jump in, let's give it one second here.
Kathryn StarkeyAnd I'd like someone to put the map up. I'm looking for
gave a concession that we moved the library much closer to the school. Than to the park, and it's a shared facility. And I'm a little concerned that where that community garden is going now. It's not going to be accessible by anyone who wants to go participate in a community garden. So
Mike MooreAre you on the line? I need somebody to please mute their Peter. Or device. Lots of feedback. Please mute. If you're not in inside this room, please mute your device.
Kathryn StarkeyIs Keith on?
Mike MooreKeith Wiley is not on.
Kathryn StarkeyOh he wants. Uh can we continue this till Commissioner Oakley? Maybe.
Mike MooreHow about we go through the rest we can come back into this? How about this? Let me go through the other ones real quick and we might vote over see if he gets on in time, okay?
Kathryn StarkeyRight. So um
under a minute2/3Unidentified speakerVoice AHe must be having issues. He was on and he dropped off again. Sorry.
Mike MooreOkay, we can bring this back during Commissioner Oakley's as requested.
For discussion at that time. Okay. C six will come back.
6m3/3Mike WellsCommissioner Weightman Is Keith not getting on the line to answer a question?
Mike MooreWell that's a great that's a great point. Is Commissioner Weightman the line?
Unidentified speakerVoice ASo I just spoke to Keith. This is David Goldstein. He's still having a hard time getting on, but I think I can answer the questions. If somebody could put up the site plan.
Kathryn StarkeyI need Keith for my eleven o'clock, so he's gonna have to just get a phone and call in. I mean just regular phone like I did on at the nine o'clock.
Unidentified speakerVoice ACan you can Jordan, can you zoom out just a little bit? It's a little bit too zoomed in.
Okay, that's good. So if you look at I think this is the area where Commissioner Starkey was Asking about playground It is It's right next to the library and just south of the gymnasium. And so if you see It's actually served by a bicycle pedestrian network of trails. Um that so it will not be fenced. That's Keith's understanding when he spoke to me. And The public will be able to access that gymnasium, the library, and the playground.
It's one of those. You can see it it's the community garden is that star at the bottom of the map.
Kathryn StarkeySo I have a problem with that location because If you're uh the public and working in a community garden, you're bringing all your tools and equipment to it. And um That's just not accessible to the public. I think a better
Unidentified speakerVoice Aone.
Kathryn StarkeyYeah.
Unidentified speakerVoice ALet me let me just finish because I spoke to Keith about it. Um First of all, if you look, there's a there's a road and trail just to the immediate north of where that community garden is. And so And all of the ex the tennis courts, the track and field, the baseball diamond were all accessible to the public. all are also that same trail and roadway. So
accessible because the public is able to access all those records. So Keith told me that he actually thinks This is a better location for the community garden than where it used to be.
Kathryn StarkeyWhat is happening over there next to the are those tennis courts? In the green space. Uh by the library. Because
Unidentified speakerVoice Ayeah, the tennis courts are the yellow area.
Kathryn StarkeyRight.
Unidentified speakerVoice AOkay, that's that's those are the publicly accessible tennis courts.
Kathryn StarkeyYeah? I just does anyone I don't know if anyone else here is a gardener, but to me that is a long way to go with all your tools and equipment and stuff to a garden. Um I I think it'll end up just being the school garden and it will not be a community garden. So I'm I'm I personally am not so happy with that location.
Unidentified speakerVoice AWell, I think that's a detail and I spoke to Keith about this. I think the details of that type of accessibility is something that the county and the district still need to work out. I mean I don't think that they're actually building anything. It's kind of an open area where that star is. There's not any Other infrastructure plan there. So if they needed to move the garden Farther. Closer to that. Truck access road, I think they can still. This is a this is kind of a conceptual location where the star is,
but it can be Is that the Anything that impedes it from being moved closer to the roadway.
Mike MooreSo I guess the question, Commissioner, that you gotta think about is I mean, and David can answer this, how much of the project would be held up if you continue this item or Do you wanna wait and work through it with them? Because you don't want I don't think
Unidentified speakerVoice Ayou want to be clear, yeah. To be clear, this site is already under active construction. I mean it it's Some of the building so And and I think the construction is occurring in accordance with this site plan. That being said. The community garden as I said is the basing area of the project. So if that can as long as it stays generally in that area, I think the school district would
A little further north. The right.
Kathryn StarkeyYeah, I I would like to uh talk to them about um Having it closer to the library and um and facilities, restrooms and I I just You know, originally when we planned this out, and this is a shared facility, that library was where those And we acquiesced and we moved it over. To the school site. And now they've taken the community garden and buried it in the site. So I wanna be
a good partner. I think they want to be a good partner. I personally don't think that's a good site at all, but Um I'd like I'll move this forward. But I'm gonna talk to them about finding a better spot that is better accessible because there's gonna be a lot of seniors that like. Community garden. Where's the rent?
There's there's that's just not a good thing. Not the end of the world, but I would've liked I don't know.
Someone's mic is really messed up. So with that I'll move approval of C six. Second.
Mike MooreI have a motion and a second for C6. All in favor? Aye. All opposed, same signs. Motion passes. Thank you. Commissioner Weightman thanks for reminding us of that.
