Mike MooreAye.
Kathryn StarkeyChairAye. Commissioner Moore.
Mike MooreThank you, Chairman Starkey. Um well welcome. Great to see you guys here. I tell you what I was really excited about this morning. I mean, what you've brought to Pasco County. It is amazing. You know, and and Gordy Zimmerman and George Mitchell and the entire team. We decided to um choose Pasco County. I don't think anybody here really realized the impact it would actually have on the community. And we're proud to partner partner with you with our DMO, our destination management organization for the Sports Coast
as well. And going back a few years, I can tell you one of the highlights of my career was actually be able to be at your rink and provide resolutions to all the women of the US women's hockey team that won a gold medal. soon after. What an amazing experience. And as well, you mentioned um you mentioned this, Nikki, a second ago. Uh during the resolution, the disabled hockey tournament too. When there's great things that happen all the time. That was another high highlight of my career as well to see those people from all over the nation get the opportunity
to play and be competitive right here in Pasco County. So again, on behalf of Pasco County, we're thrilled to have you guys here. Five years. It's a short time. We look forward to coming back fifty years from now. And remembering all the great things you guys have done. Thank you. So thank you all very much. Thank you, Mike.
Unidentified speakerVoice BAppreciate
Mike Moorethat.
Unidentified speakerVoice BI want to say, you know, it takes a team. And being a hockey player as a youngster and growing up, um, you know, anytime you put a good team together, you win. And so with the county and everybody and our whole staff You know, everybody here I've gotten to be good friends with a lot of you and uh we really appreciate it. And uh like I said, to win you gotta be a team and pull everybody together. And uh we have our fifth anniversary party on the twenty-second. I know a lot of invites went out to all of you, so we're
uh we're hoping to see you there. And um if you haven't received it we'll uh we've been sending 'em out a couple of times, so we'll get 'em out to you but You better
Mike Moorewatch out, you just mission that. People from over the world may be watching. You're gonna have a line outside your door when I didn't get my invitation either, right?
Ron OakleyWe gotta be careful, make sure they don't bring in too much traffic.
Unidentified speakerVoice BWell I
Ron Oakleywanna
Unidentified speakerVoice Bsay I call this year of uh twenty two the year of the tournaments because we've added some bigger events that'll be coming in July and uh we're really excited about it. Our whole team's been working hard. to bring these events and and to bring more people to Pasco County. So we're excited to work with you.
Mike MooreMadam Chair, I think Adam's Adam got why don't we He's behind. But I think he's online. I think if it's okay, I think he wanted to maybe say something. From the DMO from the easement.
Kathryn StarkeyChairAdam, if you're online, would you like to say something?
Mike MooreHe was he was supposed to be online, he just texted me. He's I don't know if you guys can patch him in. Yeah, he was patching in. But on behalf of his team
Sally ShermanUh-huh.
Mike MooreThey very much appreciate everything you guys are doing in the partnership for sure. Do we wanna um all walk down? I know we have a lot of remote.
Kathryn StarkeyChairYeah, Commissioner Mariano has some words and then
Jack MarianoVice ChairIf I if I could. Um you know, Gordie, George, your whole team. What a phenomenal product you put out there. Uh from when Cody, you reached out to me many years ago to sit down with Steve Shutt, who from the B and I'm from the Boston area. So Steve Shutt from Montreal Canadians was a nemesis for many years. But to sit down with you guys and and just have the passion about bringing hockey and what you when you asked me what I thought of it, I thought it was the greatest idea going because all the people from Northeast coming down here, they love hockey. They love to play. I grew up like you playing, uh obviously were much, much better. Uh
but just to t to bring that sport down here uh has been phenomenal. What you've done, I think that whole fifty six corridor
that rink was a big, big part of it. Uh Saddlebrook I know was loves you guys for all all the events you bring in 'cause those people want to stay in high quality places as well and You you guys. fill them up all the time. So what you've done economically has been phenomenal for the area. Um we greatly, greatly appreciate yours. Thank you.
Kathryn StarkeyChairMr. Fitzpatrick.
Christina FitzpatrickI was able to bring my family there as well last week and I found it was pretty impressive because my we were able to meet professional international hockey players there that just happen to be out on the ice during the open skate. So thank you. Thank you.
Kathryn StarkeyChairAnd I would say uh over the Thanksgiving holidays, my grandchildren uh I have two two grandsons who play competitive hockey. They're in Washington State. They're a military family, so they move around, but Uh They were so jealous of uh I mean, they were just so blown away by your by your facility. And um and I'm just so grateful for all you do for the community. I've been to numerous charitable events on your ice. And I'm just you're just a wonderful
partner to have here in the county. And we're I can't believe it's been five years. That went, that went so fast. I'm sure it did for you too. So um and Commissioner
Ron OakleyOakley. Yeah. Your presence in our community has been tremendous. There's it's just awesome that what you've done and the excitement you brought to hockey. And also Lightning doing what they do made you more and more popular in our area. And it actually uh I keep hearing that there's no room to add teams and people are wanting to be part of this sport. And so it's going to drive to where we have probably
another rink somewhere in our area, but uh it's from what you've done. It's a you've done a great job. We we appreciate all of us appreciate being on your team. Thank you. Thank you guys.
Christina FitzpatrickIt was astonishing to find out they have three professional hockey size hockey rings and one professional or Olympic size. Hockey rink and a smaller hockey rink. So that was pretty impressive.
Kathryn StarkeyChairYeah.
Christina FitzpatrickLet
me
Kathryn StarkeyChaircheck this out. If you haven't been there, you've got to go. Um one more comment. Hi. Um I'm just wanted to say my son is now a mite. I guess that's what it's called, right? Um he is eight and he learned how to skate through your program in May. And so now he's on your rec league. And I just wanna say from a parent, I'm so excited I don't have to deal with mosquitoes or sunburn. And it's a great indoor sport. I can't cool, but um he um he loves hockey. Thank you for bringing that into
our lives. We now have a love for hockey that I had no idea that I had in me. Uh so thank you for bringing that to us and to our family. Thank you. Thank you. So uh we're gonna stand up here for the photo
Kathryn StarkeyChairand Commissioner Moore is gonna stand down there. So let's uh move our chairs back and
