2mMike MooreOh thank you Madam Chairman No I just I thought this was a just a really, really um I hate use the word neat, but neat program and I'd love to hear more about it because I think our citizens would as well.
Unidentified speakerVoice ACertainly. So um Chief from Fire Marshal, Delegate for Chief Castle. 231002 is an extension that we are requesting. It came before the board in 16 that interlocal between us and the school board. The school board has a medical emergency medical responder course where high school students go through application, they actually obtain their emergency medical responder certification, and this affords them the opportunity to come out in a clinical setting with our ambulances. across the county and get that real life application
um and get their skill sets signed off. Um that that has unfortunately expired and this request is to extend that interlocal uh for five calendar years. With termination causes by both parties.
Mike MooreYeah, what a great program.
Unidentified speakerVoice AVery cool. It is. Um they're also moving towards a uh a fire academy type base program as well. Uh Chief White and his crew. Oh good. Deputy Chief Sword Out and the Operations Completment have been working with the school board to to get that up and running. Also, it's gonna further our recruitment issue and uh hopefully speak to the long term retention uh when we're getting those those home grown. kids right out of high school and interjecting them into our our organization.
Mike MooreIt makes total sense. You know we were really pushing in the states pushing. I know a lot of people here supportive of, you know, dual enrollment and things like that. So right now why not get ahead of the game? It just right? I mean here you are, you're learning a trade while you're still in high school that you're going to be able to use. And if you can get ahead a year or two, it makes total sense. So for approval. Second?
Kathryn StarkeyChairSecond. All in favor? Thank
you. Thank you so much.
Okay, Andrew.
