Resolution number 23-101, a resolution by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, observing Thursday, May 4th, 2023, as the National Day of Prayer in Pasco County. Whereas the National Day of Prayer is an event deeply rooted in our county's history dating back to the first Continental Congress in 1775.

1:01:11In nineteen eighty eight, pr President Ronald Reagan signed a law stating Uh setting aside the first Thursday of May as the date on which the National Day of Prayer is officially observed. ANRAS the National Day of Prayer unites Americans from all social, economic, political, and ethnic backgrounds in prayer for our nation. This diversity was intended by Congress when it designated the National Day of Prayer, not that every faith And go I'm sorry, not that every faith and creed

1:01:45Sorry. But that all who sought to pray for this nation would be encouraged to do so in any manner deemed appropriate. And Raz, during this important time in our nation's history, we continue to give thanks and pray for the brave members of our armed forces who are defending our freedom and their families. I think the whole board as well. When years ago they talked about canceling the National Day of Prayer, we still had ours and and carried on and uh glad to see it's gonna stay in the forefront. We're doing on both sides of the county now, so there's opportunities for for everyone to participate. And I want to say it's very inspiring every time we do it, and we greatly appreciate you guys carrying on the uh tradition. Uh Commissioner

And uh coming into National Day of Prayer, maybe maybe we reconsider about putting the Ten Commandments back up on this wall. 1:04:31You know, I just I thank you, uh Chair uh Mariano uh for this opportunity And As a combat veteran of foreign war I understand the importance of prayer. Um, it was through them prayers that God spared me. Um and then you're not going to be able I if we truly understand if My people, that's us Christians, if we would humble ourselves and pray and turn from our own evil and

1:05:01wicked ways, then God will forgive our sins and heal our land. So prayer is very important. And I thank you and all the staff, even just thinking about all the chairs being set up out there every year, how Commissioner Mariano uh you've you've made this an inviting place. And all Also business owners like the ones standing next to me, you know, have really taken this uh as an opportunity for community to come to to come together to pray. So thank you. Okay. 1:05:33I did want to say something really exciting has happened. You know, Billy Graham, you know the great Billy Graham. He administered in Korea. Well, Korea has been praying for America, and something real neat is happening that there's gonna be in forty nations across America, the Koreans are coming just to intercede for us and pray for America for the times we're going through. So Daniel Bernard of somebody clears Tampa Bay we represent will be picking them up the third. That's the Wednesday before we're

1:06:04Yeah. and they will be going around the area praying. And we're so honored that he's coming to Pasco County first. So the Wednesday before the National Day of Prayer, they will, well, they'll land at midnight Tuesday. Then 11 o'clock, they'll come over to uh 8114 Leo Kidd Avenue in Port Ritchie. And there they will begin to pray. They've got an interpreter. And so they're going to share as they pray what God feels has for them. America. To me this is exciting. We

1:06:34were a a light to the world and reached everywhere. And for some reason losing our zeal for the Lord now, these Koreans are coming and we're so excited. We believe it's gonna be very instrumental. And connecting that nation with this nation and others as we pray that Wednesday and then join here at the National Day of Prayer. So it's really exciting and I want to thank uh Daniel for his vision. He's been here, you've uh recognized the National Day of Prayer. So thank you so much. The scripture says, first of all, prayer for y'all and those in authority

1:09:04So Pastor Lord, Troy, ma'am. Um as you know, I've I've received my first cross pen, I want to say It was Memorial Day at Beacon Woods. Um Seventeen years ago. And I've had that. a cross pin on my suits since that point in time. I've given away probably seven thousand of them. And I've got more ordered. I hope to have them for the National Day of Prayer when we'll hand them out again. So thank you.

1:09:30Yeah, and we we appreciate it because really it's at that cross that's the road where our calendar changed and they changed the calendar recognizing that There was a life before Christ and a life after Christ. And thank goodness we're living this side of the cross full of His mercy and grace. So thank you that commissioner. I know you've gotten plenty to me. We've even given them out at Port Ritchie when we were there and uh when we were honoring our veterans able to give those out. So thank you so much. All right. Thank you.
