1:21:02Uh N eighty three. But it doesn't change what's been done. And I want to take a second to explain what N eighty three was about. It um as as part of the immigration um status here, uh you know, in the state and in the country. Uh we had been waiting for quite some time to get become two eighty seven G compliant as it as it's as it's called. And basically what that does is allows us to cooperate with immigration officials. There's there's two different flavors of it. But it had been sitting Uh literally in the previous administration's

1:21:33offices for years when we took over the uh the corrections facility. Uh so now under new administration there's a push at state level to to have all of the jails within the state of Florida uh move towards us. So we jumped at the opportunity. I went ahead and executed an agreement. It'll be coming back to you as a consent item to ratify that decision. I I don't think that there'll be any any um um

1:22:00But

1:22:01you can you can get them to do a approve, ratify, and consent your signatures on eighty three and right now and certainly

1:22:09love that and and

1:22:10I can have a board wants more in in depth about what it was. But but you have you have You have executed the documents. in because of the time constraints um what we traditionally do is bring that back as an ab uh is to get the board to Approve, ratify, and confirm the administrator taking that action on your behalf.

1:22:35And I I just want to add if you guys don't know what 287 G that allows the Sheriff's Office to go into the jails and re and remove those um illegal.

1:23:45I will, absolutely. Chief uh Chief Stacey Jenkins FASCO corrections. Um just uh very, very briefly. Um back in 2017 the the jail became a jail enforcement model under 287 G. Uh which meant we had officers that were trained by uh Department of Homeland Security ICE and a four-week class. up in I believe it was North Carolina. And those officers

1:24:15went through that training. We had a database placed within the county jail where we would interview any foreign national to determine their their immigration status. Um so we would conduct the interviews, we would actually initiate the detainers at that point in time. During the trans transition from the Sheriff's Office to County Operations, Initially, we attempted to assume the

1:24:46same agreement by the county administrator. Um the the jail with immigration. Unfortunately, immigration came back and said we could not just reassign those duties at an entire new contract or agreement had to be in place. So that agreement has been sitting in Washington D C since uh Mr. Car uh Carbella as the assistant county administrator signed that back in August of Twenty twenty two. Um and it has been sitting

1:25:16in in Washington. Um currently we are in the middle of uh the jail expansion to get the computer system in there along with the uh uh m really the manpower that it will take to to operate this program. We decided to go with the Warrant Service Agreement program, which is compliant with the 287G. It's just an abbreviated program. uh where we are accepting those detainers. We're not initiating them, but we're accepting them. and

1:25:47providing all the same services and compliance uh with the governor's uh request and with uh uh DHS's request.

1:25:56And the um folks that went up and got that training are they still with us or do we need to send people up again?

1:26:02So some people have um changed um through the through the state And the Sheriff's Association. We provided a group of names this morning. It's due by tomorrow. A group of officers that we can retrain. That was provided along with all the waivers that they requested. It was provided this morning. Okay.

1:26:21And just last question: We will be completely compliant by April 1st, or did that is or is it going to be sooner?

1:26:27Um it will likely be sooner. All the training has to be provided by DHS. Okay. So we're waiting for them to provide dates to send individuals to training. We are currently honoring all the detainers that come through. Um so The the jail, when they get a detainer, we contact uh Mr. Hale with the County Attorney's Office, he reviews them and ensures that there's nothing missing within that detainer, and then we we do currently honor them. But we are not within a

1:26:57program, we don't have an MOU which is required.

1:27:09We're we're getting there. The uh they're painting um in the in the new building. Um so yeah we're we're excited to get in that um but there is a lot of remodeling to do in the in the current space also.

1:27:27update. Thank you. Quick one minute update, Andrew Baxter, facilities management director. Um phase one of the jail project, jail expansion project will be completed by uh the end of this summer. And so that is the major expansion that you see. Phase two will then be the connection. And the renovation of a portion of the existing jail. And so that will be another about eighteen months project once phase one is complete. But that's where we're looking right now

1:27:57and things are really coming along in phase one. And getting close to close to opening. So later this summer.

1:28:10and and uh testament to to the chief and HR and our recruiting efforts, we are we are adding corrections officers to our uh to our employee roster. So we should be in good position to staff it when it opens. Uh the only other thing I wanted to mention you may have noticed this coming in, uh our Go Pasco team is is outside. Uh Kathy, I don't know if you want to say a couple of words about what it is they're doing there.

1:28:34County Attorney Assistant County Ministry Public Service. So Go Pasco is out taking surveys. So trying to catch as many of our citizens as we can to find out what we're lacking, what we can do better. And they got lots of goodies out there too. So Uh anybody listening, they'll be there till noontime and they will again be at the Dade City Board of the County Commission meeting.

1:28:54And I'm gonna put you on the spot um and ask you a question. I understand if you don't have the numbers, but how are we looking at our Hope Pasco with our displaced um

1:29:03So we just met last week with Mr. Carbella. We have a plan. We are about at 50 uh people out there right now. Displaced or homely.

1:29:15We have not transitioned to a different plan, but we will be meeting with you very soon with that plan. So uh right now they're occupying I think it was like thirty something units, about fifty something. Thirty six units, about fifty folks. So

1:29:29And what about at the uh family?

1:29:31Youth Lane they're pretty much full. So the family um at Youth Lane is pretty full.
