County administrator updates and jail food vendor

1:31:13All right, County Administrator, Mr. Garbella.

1:31:20Um that's by um Tax collector Pasano with regards to 7 Bill 770, which makes uh some um modernization here of a 14-year-old uh supporting some more consumer protections. And he was asking if the board would not mind sending into the governor's office a letter of support in order to uh you know sign. The bill that hasn't made its way to the government's desk yet. But Senate Bill 770 expands consumer protections for foreign homeowners, which included are not limited to additional

1:31:50disclosure requirements and increased contractor oversight while providing more information to the property owner to ensure they have better access to information about the case program. the for deciding whether or not that financing option is right to recall it basically allows the contractor to put a lien on the property and they're uh you know the tax collector has actually taken upon himself to provide a lot of additional disclosures but Senate Bill 770 actually codifies some of those so we uh he had asked the board would uh support of that I have a letter on

1:32:20support to send to the governor's office that if the board would like uh we'd uh like the you as acting chair to sign it so we can send it fold.

1:32:34The other item I had was just a reminder that uh we'll be bringing a resolution forward on April 10th with regards to the next tri-county workshop with Bill Trump and Ellis County that is uh scheduled for April nineteenth. Uh we will be doing it at Ruth Beckard Hall. The next one I think we'll have it up in Tasco County. Uh but it'll be nine thirty to twelve. It should be on your calendars. Uh right now uh we'll be talking about the legislative uh wrap-up um which may include. and discussion on Live Local, uh opioids, uh the MPO merger, Tampa Bay Water, as well as just idea exchange. We uh at the jail we needed to change food vendors and so we have uh we have gone through uh another process to hire a new food vendor. Uh that contract will be coming back before the board, but if we get the notice of intent to award out now that gives the the uh vendor some assurances that this will be coming back to the board for for approval

1:34:14of the contract uh but uh it's it's a purchasing formality is my my understanding that I need board authorization for. Is that something

1:34:22that's Mr Chairman I would also authorize the county county administrator to sign a contract if one is is available before your next board meeting. That would

1:34:32allow us uninterrupted service uh to to provide food to the inmates. Okay. Mr. Starkey?

1:35:57Um and also I wanted to Say I had mentioned to the administrator that NACO was here this summer. In July in Tampa. And if we have any good projects to put up for awards in any of the departments, this is the best one to really put something good forward. I don't know what that might be, but Because then you can be here present to to be there to get your award so Um, they always do best practice awards, which I always love going to and listening, so Um that is
