Citizens Academy fall 2021 certificates

1:41:55Good morning, Commissioners. Johanna Rodriguez, Intergovernmental Affairs. Today we'd like to celebrate the fall 2021 graduating class of the Pasco County Citizens Academy. We have 21 graduates this time around. We'd like to present certificates of completion to those able to join us today. Following the presentation, we ask you join us for a group photo. 1:45:02So congratulations to the fall twenty twenty one class. We hope you enjoyed our program. Thank you for your interest in learning about what we do every day to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Uh we look forward to our next academy, which starts on January nineteenth.

1:45:19Thank thank you all so much for participating. Um we'd love to hear comments from those who went through the class. So um, you know, we'd like to know what you thought about it. That's not very many places where you can learn how your local government focus uh functions. So that's that's why we started this years ago. And we're we're really grateful for the time you put into this and we'd love to hear a few comments quickly if any of you want to say anything to the board. Well we'll stand up and take a photo and then then if any of you will give us a few comments we'd love to hear it.

1:46:36Hi, my name is Jerry Sanchez or Geraldine Sanchez, I go by Jerry. Um and I definitely learned a lot more than I thought I would. It was an eye opener. Um I think the game that we played was definitely an icebreaker. because we were able to interact and kind of role play a little bit, um, but also put ourselves in these roles that are very, very important and see how so many of us in this county and our cities um have different ideas, but sometimes we don't think of the ideas of

1:47:06our neighbors or how it could impact our budget or things like that. So So that was one of my favorite times because it was fun, but we were learning and we were also experiencing. So I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

Um I've learned so much about how the county operates and between the department heads and the employees that we interacted with, everybody seemed to love their job. Nobody had a scowl on their face. Everybody had great things to say about Pasco. So moving here blindly, not knowing anything, boy, do we choose the right county to move to. You should be

1:47:53Good morning. I'm Cindy Donovan. I just wanted to sort of echo what Megan said. It was really lovely to hear from the department heads themselves and sometimes their staff about what they do, how much they enjoy it. They obviously have a great deal of passion for what they do, and that was really nice to see.

1:48:15My name is William Humphrey and I just wanted to thank uh Pasco County and For for investing the time and energy into putting this a co uh academy on. It's a worthwhile investment in your time. And I hope that you continue doing it because it I know that it you know, time is money and you have a lot of uh leaders in the organization that are here spending their time and it is a worthwhile investment. I think so too.
