Fox Ridge MSBU stormwater repair options denial
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

So good afternoon, Commissioner, Chairman. I'm Jerry Williams, Administrative Services Manager, Public Infrastructure, Fiscal and Business Administration Department. And today uh this agenda item was continued from the May fifth meeting. So the public hearing with guidance to research stormwater system repair options, and our public works department will be lead take leading on this uh follow-up actions. So they're actually pursuing yes sir.
We we need to get for record the proof of public. Just show that it was
published.
Uh this item uh was published in the April sixteenth, twenty twenty five edition of the Tampa Bay Times for the May sixth, twenty twenty five meeting where it was continued to today. Yes. There you go.
Shall I start over? Nope, you can
proceed right where you were.
So this agenda item was continued from the May fifth meeting. So our public work department is now leading a follow-up action. So they are pursuing additional uh funding options. And their staff will make a project proposal presentation at the 9-3 meeting.
So for the recommended action is uh to deny the adoption of the proposed ordinance.
Okay. Interesting.
Um Madam Chairman, as if you'll recall When this came to the board for the first hearing or for the adoption hearing, um the board had concerns about that we had collected money in in this district, there were still outstanding issues.
Yes. Well
that's right. We went
to the right.
And while the The advisory committee recommended that the ordinance and the M S B U be dissolved and refunds occurred, the board generally was of the opinion that we should not dissolve it and that we should do the work out there. Um and so that was why you have the unusual recommendation to after public hearing to deny adoption.
Is this our s second hearing on this? Because This
only needed one, um, but you continued it.
Yeah, well we some of us didn't want to get rid of these. It's hard work to get one of these and Um we wanna continue and I think Commissioner Oakley wants to speak.
Thank you Madam Chairman M I'm delighted you guys did the research to go to go look into it 'cause the people from years ago we established this were in dire needs of some help. I know we did a lot of great work out there, but with the money we have out there I think there's still a m lot more great work to do, so I I look forward to your presentation coming up. Yes sir. Thank you.
And it keeps the vehicle open for other the community to do other things.
Okay, so I take a motion for Jennifer
and so bring it back. So we recommend denials, so where does ten years worth of funds go?
So the MSBU would remain in place.
So when are we so this is this is the micrux of it. For over ten years we've been collecting funds and haven't done anything with the money. How expeditiously are we going to start putting these funds to work? To Commissioner Mariano's point, to Chair Starkey's point, I mean how much more compounding of funds we need to we can do anything with it. If it's another ten years. There's no sense in
holding hostage. Go ahead, Commissioner Oakley.
Madam Clerk So Commissioner Weightman we actually did a lot of work out there. There's still a lot more to do, but there was a lot of digging that was done out there. I was out there on site when team was teams were doing it. There's still more to do and that's why I think we need to keep going until we solve these things that they're out there and there's still plenty to solve.
Yeah, we'll just have to be back out here starting.
The team we have now is even so much better than we had when this thing started years ago. And we've got some really talented people that get a lot a lot of work done that otherwise might have been even more expensive going through, you know, subc contracting out which I'm sure they've taken a look at everything. And I and I can't wait for the presentation to see what they can do.
And I think that presentation to answer your your fair concerns, Commissioner Weightman, should include things like schedule and what it is that we're we're pursuing in terms of work and funding.
That should be all in the
coast or For where I'm
Did they have flooding here uh in um Hurricane Milton in this area?
I mean it's wet year
round.
So the feedback uh so ma'am I I did visit at the uh the MSPU and they said that that there was flooding in the area. Okay. Yeah.
Let's let's let's You know, fix it up. Certainly when their time comes when they don't need any more repairs. We can keep the MSBU but just put it at zero. And keep keep it so in case they need it. But just don't collect any money. We don't need any if they don't If we don't need any money we don't we shouldn't be caught, yeah. That's right. That's not right. Well I so I'll take a motion.
It's a it is a public comment.
It
is
a
public hearing.
Public comment on the Fox Ridge M S B U.
Seeing
no one move approval.
Second. No one online. Uh's
online. Move approval of the denial. Thank you. And
uh all in favor of the denial say aye. Aye. Opposed? Okay. P34.
