Historic oak tree discussion

2:05:39I was gonna say I think we still have a bunch of tree folks.

2:05:42So let's go to commissioner. Yeah. Commissioner Oakley, we're gonna go to your Commissioner Oakley and then bring up a quick discussion.

2:05:54I've got I've got emails and all I've got. I've been on vacation. I've got emails I'm still looking at. There's a lot of information. There's new stuff they brought up today about historic tree. All right. I might look it into that before I require the board to vote on something we really don't know much about.

2:06:09Madam Chair. Yeah. And I I was gonna look for any vote. I was just gonna say that m just to let them know that we are having this a specific Arborist come out here and look at independently from all of And we'll have a report in a little bit of time. We just don't have it yet. That's all right.

2:06:22We've asked facilities to bring back some information all for me. I haven't gotten that, hadn't said to the administrator or or them about any of that information. And I I don't want to make any kind of vote or something.

2:06:35Oh no, no, I didn't I didn't. I just wanted to just let them know we're doing that because I've got to do that.

2:06:41And let me Also explain. And I've been harping on the tree canopy for a long time. I think it's getting traction. Um that we are Well, as as y'all know, I'm hoping that I'd like to see oak trees planted around the whole thing like it used to be when I first started coming here. And I always say the commissioners, I always look for the tree to to park under so I can be in the shade. Not really in the shade under a palm tree. Um But we are working to value

2:07:12Our grand trees better. Um because I know it's really frustrating to see uh when land gets cleared that everything goes and we don't think we don't think everything has to go. So we're working to protect the trees. Um better. And uh that's working through the progress process. I don't remember where we are. Um we just raised the cost per inch

2:07:43of a tree, but now we're working on the more protections of a tree. I was very interested to hear the Dade City has an ordinance that protects trees forty inches or greater that you can't take 'em down.

2:07:56That's kind of strange because a couple three years ago and what you've noticed out in front was next to seventh Street is the city actually I guess they own those trees on seventh street and they blew down in a storm I don't know, two or three years ago and all of a sudden they're open up 'cause they cut 'em off and didn't pay anything back. So and the stops are still there.

2:08:20I wish that we You know, some counties have the money to have an arb an arborist that goes around and does a tree survey of the whole county. Of their counties and And you you really know. What you have. We we don't have that.
