Commissioners' afternoon reports on cleanup and projects

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Okay. Commissioner Starkey, I'll come to you first.

Kathryn Starkey

Good. Um can

Kathryn Starkey

you tell my father

Ron OakleyVice Chair

about that?

Kathryn Starkey

Yay, this is truest at Mitchell and uh at S at Sun Coast. No. Fifty-four and a little. And um this is they are putting their trees in. So um I'm very very excited that they're in the

Unidentified speakerVoice A

middle of the driveway they're they're gonna play

Kathryn Starkey

they're putting them back in where they were all taken out. I will say I also stopped by the stake and shake and talked to them a couple times and they are also putting their landscape perspective. So Commissioner You can go buy your businesses and don't threaten them. I already got I was already told that.

Um but you can let them know. They can tell you how to word it because they've told me how to

get implants back in. So I also um spoke to the uh Land O' Lotary, that's why it was not up the Maratha groundbreaking about the trail going through Land Lakes and they're very very excited about it and um looking forward to it not one complainer compared to another area that will remain standard. And um and also that was my day I have my CEO tour, so uh but Marata looks great. That's it for me.

Jack MarianoChair

Okay, thank you. Uh under my committee reports I think I got a couple of pictures as well.

We did our cleanup at Fox Hollow on Sunday.

Kathryn Starkey

Wow, we all cleaned up.

Jack MarianoChair

I'm telling you. Now you guys outperformed us. We only had I think twenty-three tons, but

Kathryn Starkey

I

Jack MarianoChair

want to tell you there was at least there was several neighbors who weren't able to get their stuff out to the street. Kinda went out there, put on the edge of the street with them, or they put out on the street and uh grappling trucks as you see right there, put it right in, picked it up for them, and uh we had one resident who was like really amazed. He was a young young man working hard as a tile person, uh had a three-year-old daughter and he uh he was just overwhelmed with all the stuff he had in his yard from when he moved in. He was trying to like rehab it to come back out. And I'll tell you he'd move moved a whole bunch of things

out. We went back and we had uh about one o'clock that grappling truck was gonna head out, went out there with him and uh This is this is house right there. Picking all that stuff up.

Kathryn Starkey

Oh my goodness.

Jack MarianoChair

He was like amazed.

That's my uh great guy and I'll tell ya, in the rain our grappling truck guy uh just kept on working right on through the the extra crew that was out there too. They got the job done, it was supposed to end at three and they kept on going right to the end.

Kathryn Starkey

You know, I I've done it a couple times now and I feel the way we got the had the best response was when all they have to do is put it in their driveway. And I don't know why we couldn't do it like that at Holiday Lakes, but I mean, tha there's no way that guy could haul that all all that stuff down. It's very hard. for for one person to haul heavy stuff. down. I mean, we picked up a Wave Runner when we were doing it a last year. So When possible. I

think it's better if they could just put it on their street.

Jack MarianoChair

Well, let me let me say this. It's it's hard to do that, especially if you can get them to go do it. It just saves so much time when they get loaded, put it right in there. It's already contained 'cause those grappling trucks can only o only take so much. The great thing, if code goes out early, and they kinda go spot the sites and go put door knockers out there and I will say we didn't do it this time. Kinda forgot that step but I think they went out there and just let people know what was going on. If we when we've done that in like Gulf Islands or whatever, that extra approach You can look and you can see the troubled homes. Like when I pulled up to that guy's house, I saw this big

trailer with all sorts of stuff on it. Saw stuff in the front it kinda knocked nicely and said, Hey, you know, we got a cleanup going on. Can you get the stuff out to the curb or even get it down to us because he didn't have a truck there? And uh you know, f so f folks like that. And then around the he would that works. But if we get code out of earlier and frankly, I think we did country club estates and my My two assistants and I, we actually walked the whole area, dropped off the fires ourselves, put them out there, and we had a huge turnout there, too. But uh, I think. For those that can't get

it out the grappling trucks and our guys do go out there so it's great, but I think that's a good setup and just little extra in in the wood in the woods with the in the weeds with the folks can can help that happen. But they did a phenomenal job.

Kathryn Starkey

L last year when we did my neighborhood um across nineteen, not in that neighborhood, was the hoarder who let us um Katie and Jenny and I or someone I don't know not been Jenny. We went and, you know, cleaned up that oh, Kelly Funk. We went and cleaned up that lady's yard. I think it's back at it, sadly, but um not the really, really bad one that was in the street with the comb. This is a different one of my deast.

Jack MarianoChair

Mm-hmm. Very good.

Kathryn Starkey

But anyway that that worked out.

Jack MarianoChair

I think I

got

a couple of pictures of La Merat up there. That might be it.

Kathryn Starkey

With the mermaid?

Jack MarianoChair

Um not as intense as my Chris Rokley's pictures over there. He was he was he was well positioned there. Anyway that that was an awesome uh awesome day out there and uh just just increase like the hockey rank, great amenity for our citizens to enjoy, improves quality of life. This thing is gonna be amazing for improving quality of life as well. So I think we keep our focus like that. The th stuff we're doing with the amazing growth coming in, just keep the focus on where where it should go and what the right thing is.

So that we're Look

Kathryn Starkey

how pretty that is.
