A resolution by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, declaring the week of April 21 through 27, 2024, as National Crime Victims Week in Pasco County. Whereas surviving a crime can be can have a myriad of lasting effects on victims, including physical, psychological, social, and financial issues. ANRAS, we know that countless survivors never tell anyone about what happened to them. ANRAS, victims of crime deserve to be treated with
dignity and respect by the criminal justice system and should have access to the services they need to rebuild their lives.
Services providers, community members, businesses, places of worship, colleagues, neighbors, and family members can provide victim-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive support. NRAS, we must listen to survivors and be willing to create new options for support to ensure that all victims of crime can receive the help they need and seek justice.

Now therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, that said Board hereby declares the week of April 21st to the 27th, 2024, as National Crime Victims Week in Pasco County, and expresses our gratitude and appreciation for our community members, victim service providers, and criminal justice professionals who are committed to providing our response. To
all victims of crime so that they may find assistance, support, justice, and peace. Done and resolved in regular session with the quorum present and voting this tenth day of april twenty twenty four.

sir. Thank you so much. Well, my name is Joshua Gable. I'm here on behalf of Marcy's Law. I just want to say thank you to Commissioner Weightman for filing this resolution in support of National Crime Victims Week, uh which will be April twenty-first through twenty-seventh. Um it's also it's Especially uh especially special, I guess, um in that we are celebrating five years of the implementation of Marcy's Law here in Florida, which helped uh enshrine those protections for victims of crime uh in the state constitution.
So um it's a very important uh week for those folks who are victims of crime. Um oftentimes their voices are not heard. Um, so these rights give them those protections. That they need moving forward in their criminal cases. So any support that you can give to victims of crime is greatly appreciated. Anyone who can light up their buildings in purple, business owners, homeowners, that would be greatly appreciated as well. And thank you to the county for lighting the government center and also the historic courthouse
as well for that week. So thank you so much for your time. And appreciate that. Thank you.

Thank you. Yeah, Josh, you know, be hard pressed if there's not a single person in this room who hasn't been impacted by somebody doing some bad thing at some point in time in their life. So Horses Law is it's an important passage and happy to recognize it here in Pasco County. Uh and with that, I guess in order to light up the the building Purple uh I'd like to make a motion to light up the West Pasco Government Center in the Dade City Courthouse Purple in recognition of National Crime
Victims Week for April twenty-first through the twenty-seventh of twenty twenty four.
