I will go ahead and read the resolution. Resolution number 23-009, a resolution by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, declaring the month of October as Manufacturing Month and October 7th, 2022 as Manufacturing Day in Pasco County. Whereas October is nationally recognized as manufacturing month and national manufacturing day is observed annually on the first Friday of October. Throughout the month Especially on National Manufacturing Day, manufacturers
typically open their doors to give local middle and high school students a behind-the-scenes look into what happens within manufacturing facilities to help address common misconceptions. And whereas during National Manufacturing Month and National Manufacturing Day, we commit to strengthening and supporting the manufacturers and hardworking manufacturing. employees of today as well as the manufacturers and workers of the future. And Raz, each year hundreds of thousands of people observe this day
by attending open houses, public tours, and career workshops. As we mark 10 years since the first national manufacturing day, we must inspire the next generation of workers and innovators to seek careers in manufacturing. And RAS, Florida encourages businesses to grow and create meaningful jobs by prioritizing policies that promote economic growth, including lowering taxes, eliminating unnecessary regulations. And investing in education and the environment.
And whereas government, and whereas Florida is taking steps to diversify its economy and strengthen its workforce by establishing a plan to invest in skills-based education to make Florida number one in workforce education by 2030 so that companies can continue to draw from an outstanding pool of talent. The Sunshine State. And RAS Pasco County is fortunate to be home to many great manufacturing businesses, some of which are world leaders in their respective
fields. And RAS, by working together and educ with educational institutions, the Board of County Commissioners and local manufacturers have and continue to work together to connect with future generations, build the next generation of skilled manufacturing employees. Take charge of the public image of manufacturing and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. And RAS, Manufacturing Month and Manufacturing Day serves as opportunities to recognize all professionals, agencies, and organizations who bring value
to Pasco County's manufacturing industry and economy. Now, therefore, be resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, that said board hereby declares. the month of October as manufacturing month and October seventh, twenty twenty-two as manufacturing day in Pasco County, done and resolved in regular session with a quorum present and voting this twenty-fifth day of October, twenty twenty-two.
Motion to approve. Second. All in favor? Aye. Of course, this is one of my favorite resolutions. So um welcome uh to the BOCC and um please come on up and and talk about how important manufacturing is to all of us.
Thank you, Commissioner Starkey, uh, for recognizing the manufacturing industry. The manufacturing month is a is an annual national event uh executed locally with Yeah. Support of thousands of manufacturers across the country as they hold students, teachers, parents, job seekers, and local community members and open houses, plant tours, presentations designed to showcase today's advanced manufacturing technology and high wage opportunities. Manufacturing months manufacturing month events in our regional include a virtual tour live questions and answers
webinar with the owner of uh Southern Manufacturing Technology, uh Roy Uh Sweetman, and local students, two manufacturer speed network events and local manufacturers in Penos County and Pasco County teachers with multiple in person plant tours and proclamation Uh from across the area. Um I'm a local manufacturer. I own R J manufacturing just up the street, up on Little next to Home Depot. Um business is good. Um our manufacturing month is a co-produced by a national association of manufacturers. And
the manufacturing institute and supported by the Bay Manufacturer Association in Florida Makes.
Thank you very much. And and uh Jim, you want to speak a little bit about our manufacturing training program?
Yeah, I'm Jim Shen. I'm with Amskills, and uh I just wanted to thank uh the board here for all your continued and generous support for Amskills. Right now we're servicing or over sixty manufacturers here throughout the uh Tampa Bay region, and without your support. Uh we wouldn't be able we wouldn't be here and be able to do that. So we have a bright future ahead and thank you so much for supporting us.

I'm Christina uh Davenport. I'm the immediate past president of Bama and here to represent and thank you in the board for what you've done for us today.

And uh is it is it Bama who holds that dinner once a year? That we partner. Yeah. So partnering with Ant's build this year. Yeah. And uh hopefully um when we have our building open we can have an event there. We're very much looking forward to that. And um I b I was at your uh your business, right? And you have some AMPSkills uh workers there, yeah. And he has uh a lot of C and C machines. You wanna tell him what your business does?
Um My business is uh we do a lot of high precision machining. Um we're we've all built in Pasco County, uh we do a lot of milk devices, a little bit of department defense. Um automotive performance. um aerospace technologies. Um now we just recently uh expand our business in metal fabrication with lasers and uh CNC press breaks. Uh we are trying to work closely with Pasco County schools. Uh I wanna go ahead and do a speech with uh a few of those and Maybe uh you know, maybe turn the
page for some you know, some local student and maybe you want to get in manufacturing.
That's right. That's right. So Um I I love our Department of Defense contractors. You guys would not believe how many we have here in the county. That's so that's so important. All right, let's yeah, go ahead, Jim.
So we're going to be able to do that.
We do have a boot camp going on right now at the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind. you know, right down on Ridge Road. So we have VIP Day tomorrow. Um so if anybody would like to come and join us there at uh ten o'clock or one o'clock in the afternoon. We certainly hope to have you get to see one one of our boot camp programs looks like.
And we had a record number of applicants. We have t twenty-three going through. We
have ten.
We had twenty-five, but a couple had there was a health issue and the they had to drop out but
And I believe ten of them are veterans here too, so
Yes. And um Mr. Karbala and me and some uh uh legislators and a future county commissioner, we were all down there last last week. Yeah. So um okay, let's go down and take a picture.
