What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Ron OakleyChair

Do we have anything else?

Mr Miles, do you have anything else you want to add today?

County Administrator

No sir, I'm good.

Ron OakleyChair

Good. Commissioner Yeah? Well what?

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

I didn't say this in my um Time before and I think we'll have an update at a upcoming meeting. Um I'd like to have Sean Foster here and Ralph to talk about the um budget and the things that transpired towel has of course we want to wait a little bit.

County Administrator

Maybe we're gonna wait until after he signs our vetoes, everything to include the budget, so it may be a little while.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Right. But I do wanna um thank uh Senator Simpson and Representative Sprouse, Speaker Sprouse, and Senator Cooper and Representative Mariano and my friend Ben Albritton, incoming Senate President, for their help in um At least they they you know, and Ralph and and Sean for um Helping get the Lindrick project fully funded, 3.2. So I'm very excited about that. And uh AM

skills um fully funded. So now we hope it stays, but I think Pasco did very well and I'm grateful to our legislators. So thank you very much.

Jack Mariano

Mr. Chairman? Yeah. Yes, sir. You know. And the Commissioner, I'm I'm glad you bring it up because I think it's a good point to actually talk about what is on the table right now. But we don't want to take a chance, I don't think, on waiting until to see if he vetoes or not. I think we need to go take a better stance. I think we should invite the governor down. Let 'em see Metropolitan Ministries, let 'em see Landrick. Let him see M skills, invite him down to what the great things we're trying to do in this county to to help. So I think we should actually take a better stance rather than waiting to see if he signs it or not.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Not a bad idea.

Jack Mariano

So maybe you can put a we'd put a plan together to Make that happen.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

When I was in Tallahassee, I did go, um, I think I told you guys I did go visit with DEO because the AMSkills project will be in the DEO budget. So I want to make sure they knew what it was. Um and uh met with the governor's office. Um Stephanie is chief of staff who's friend of a friend. And um so I'm trying to make sure things stick, but I think that's a great idea we can try.

Jack Mariano

Let's give it a shot. Okay.

You know, in the consent agenda we took we were gonna change public comment, which If we had public trick comment changed a little bit today, we could have probably saved a lot of time. Um, do you wanna talk about the changes that are gonna be upcoming?

County Administrator

With respect to the eighteenth board meeting.

Jack Mariano

Yes. Well we

County Administrator

just

Jack Mariano

passed

County Administrator

this morning. Right. What you approved today will allow limited numbers of the public into both boardrooms to include public comment at the at the podium. uh both in Newport Ritchie and here, if we reach capacity, then obviously in Newport Ritchie we'll overflow into the lobby. Here we would overflow into the East Pasco Government Center where we have the kiosk set up.

Jack Mariano

Okay. I and

County Administrator

I appreciate the board is still accepting WebEx comments, emails to be entered into the record, emails to be read into the record, and then public comments either in person or via kiosk.

Jack Mariano

Yeah. Well thank you for bringing that forward for for the board today. Yeah. I'm so happy

Ron OakleyChair

to have a

Jack Mariano

person

Ron OakleyChair

coming into the boardroom is the only actual difference what we've been doing. So yeah.
