2:05:52So this morning We went to a uh groundbreaking ceremony and former retired commissioner Mike Moore, who's in the audience, happened to be there as well. Um for Advent Health, they're they're uh on embarking on their Meadow Point ER and um some 13,000 square feet, am I recalling correctly? approximately and uh be right at the corner of uh 54 Meadow Point Boulevard right there primetime

2:06:22location for folks to get in and out and uh just another fantastic piece of healthcare infrastructure going on in Pasco County and Advent's continue investment in our county and our community just you know can't appreciate appreciate them enough so cra congratulations to Mike Murrell who it's gonna be over In his area he runs Dade City, Zephyrhills, and Connerton. And uh I think Eric I'm gonna butcher his name every time. Wogsness, I say it right. CEO of

2:06:53of uh Wesley Chapel will be there to to uh supplement it. Brett Maggard was in in in the house and Chief Quinn was there and Chief Walters from Dade City, so Had a good time, wasn't overly hot and uh it was a uh nice way to kick off the day. Next, uh a couple weeks ago we had um Commissioner Starkey was there, myself was there, and uh A few others. Um Governor came into town to the Baldomero Veterans Home and signed

2:07:23House Bill 725. which allows veterans, disabled veterans who are in care and their spouses actually be able to stay in uh the care facilities with them so the families aren't aren't broke apart. So it was nice to have the governor in town and uh rep still and the in the gang uh in the building and um Pretty exciting time. Commissioner Starkey's there with her grandson. He's eyeballing the pen, I think he scored a pin a marker from the governor. So that was it

2:07:53was pretty cool. Pretty cool to be at a bill signing. It was my first first one. And then next our um last year we had Mickey Sudo and Nick Wary. In the house after the Nathan's hot dog eating contests. I've been watching this for 10 years. Mickey I have to give them a shout out. Mickey is you know the number one woman champion eater in the world. She's got a 10th mustard belt. Uh ate 51 hot dogs and buns. It

2:08:24was fantastic. And uh 51 dogs and buns and husband Nick. ended up placing fourth in the men's with fifty one and three quarter dogs and buns. So the husband and wife team representing Pasco County in the Florida sports coast on a national stage on ESPN. It was fun to watch 'em in action. Um Mr. Starkey, you you m you missed out.

2:09:27Um yes, I also uh was at the governor's signing for the veterans bills. And um I w I just want to comment on what Commissioner Weightman brought up because It brought tears to my eyes. I don't know if the couple so you see the gentleman in the light blue shirt there. Um That's his daughter with her hand on his shoulder and that's her mom in the wheelchair next to him. So he is a Vietnam vet, um, did numbers of tours. He's aging, injured

2:09:58himself, and um they've been married what fifty, sixty years. They've been separated. She said he was the kind of husband that she never once ever put gas in her own car. You know, that that kind of guy. Those are rare. My husband won't do that. Uh And uh and so when he fell And couldn't take care of himself anymore and moved to um this Baldorama Lopez.

2:10:25Facility. She lives in New Port Richey. They stopped living together after sixty seven years. And I I just can't even imagine how that wrecked their lives. And so with this new bill If you're a veteran and you need to go live in a veteran's facility, your spouse can now join you in your room. Is that not beautiful? Mm-hmm. I I just found that so heartwarming. And um I wish that you know we had taken care

2:10:56of this a long time ago. But kudos to Ronda Santos. The other thing I learned at this meeting. Was that If you're if you Have grandparents who live in Florida. Your grandkids, regardless of where they live, can get in Florida college tuition. In-state college tuition. I had no idea. But that was that was something that me to get. Yeah. So th there

2:11:26are other benefits um to um What he signed. I think some were on workforce training. Yeah, and some other things. But that was that was a wonderful, wonderful presentation. Alright, what else? Um oh I was asked to speak at Bama's annual awards banquet. Actually it was the first time I'd ever been to it and when I walked in the room I my I I started having an anxiety attack because there was hundreds of people in there um and I I had no speech in um roll

2:11:56tid. Huh? No no. Bay Area Manufacturers Association. Um Senator Scott went before me and um did a wonderful job thanking all the manufacturers and the keynote speaker is uh was a guy from Pasco County who started a company called 3D Printing or 3D Printers and is now um I think one of the fastest Companies in the United States. It's amazing what he does. So someday you we have to get him at a

2:12:26PEDC event because his story is absolutely amazing. So I was very uh honored to to be a speaker at this banquet. Then I attended uh FAC in uh in Orlando. Um And where's Tony? Is he here? Yep, there you are. He got an award. Tell him what you got an award for.

2:12:50Uh the uh certified government employee awards, so that was awesome. Yeah. A lot of great training and uh basically equivalent of the certified commissioners. We don't hear him because it's not

2:13:07Tony Stello program manager for uh Pasco County Administrator. Yeah, uh just uh it's the equivalent of like the certified commissioner training uh just for government employees. I feel like anyone who's an aide to a commissioner should go through that a lot of great information. So yeah.

2:13:25Jack and I are advanced county commission, right? Yeah. I did we did two. There's a third. I haven't done the third but we've done done two. So um lots of great Stuff again. We had a lot of staff there this this time in Orlando, so that was great to see. Um they did um They did announce the new calendar and it is stormy skies, so um we haven't done a good job of getting in the calendar, so let's let's see if we can get a picture of a storm. and

2:13:56a good storm. And that'd be August sixteenth when that's that's due. Um I wanted to uh nominate Councilman Burgess from the city of Zephyrhills to the Tourist Development Council. So could I please get a second on that?

Um it was the Helen Ellis Walk-in um uh health clinic and uh this is a close-up of what's on there, but there's tents all over the place and garbage and this just happens like yearly. This

2:14:45is owned by a doctor who's in Texas and it's It's really frustrating. It takes forever to get these properties dealt with. And you know, this is at the very entrance to our county. And this is what people are driving through our county of US nineteen C in our business district over there. Yeah. It's not good it's not a good thing. So we've we've got to find a way to deal with this. And I'm gonna be bringing some ideas in a discussion when we have our legislative um legislative meeting um because I

2:15:16wanna our hands are a little bit tight uh with code in some of these properties when we can't find the property owner and contact him. So um Sean said to to bring it up when we have our our meeting. Um Mr. Steisinger, did you send me that language again? I did. Okay, let me look here.

There there's been some discussion within our in the Gulf Harbors community to increase our MSBU by fifty dollars because we realize We absolutely

2:16:08will get no amenities in there in our lifetime if we don't raise more money. But we want to have more discussion within our community before we do that. So we're going to delay that increase and just go with what we originally had, which was a hundred dollars a year assessment. So my motion would be to suspend the board's procedural rule eight point. Um I am moderating a a panel on workforce training with NASA, Lockheed, or Honeywell, one of those two. Um some other folks, but there's a lot of great stuff happening and even if you can only go for one day, it's right here in our neighborhood. So I think you should take advantage

2:18:51of it. It's a great organization.

2:18:53Can I add to that? Mr. Yeager? Um yeah, I and I think it's a great opportunity for staff. I mean you know, going up there Commissioner Starkey and we went to the legislative days, we walked around we Met with the transportation folks, what we learned there with the safety money we never got. Six hundred thousand dollars later it helped our budget. Um I think with all our staff with especially with the grants people that are out there. There's all sorts of committees, all sorts of people from the feds that are gonna be there. Yeah. It's a great opportunity to kind of be able to do it locally to get there and make those connections that

2:19:23could help us for down the road.

2:19:27Well are they gonna have that room with all the agencies?

2:19:30They won't have that, but they'll be there at different meetings as they present.

2:19:32You know I heard is gonna be there is um do you remember that gentleman Charles from NT? At what's the Nas National Transportation SIC people? SIC NTSB. NTSB. The the one who helped was handing out the doing the grants, the raise grants and all that. Um he's now hired by HNTB or or HN T B is that a company? Big transportation company. Um and he's gonna be there in Tampa. Um uh are you on the transportation committee,

2:20:03right? I think he's he's got something to do with that. So his name's I can't remember his last name, his first name's Charles. Commissioner Long knows him very well. That's who she cultivated her relationships with and they got all those raise grants. She she went to Washington over and over and over again. And um So yeah lots of great connections to make in the different departments.

2:20:23So Mike, maybe if you can take a take a look at it, have you even team team take a look at the calendar of things and if they if your staff people see something, look I can make a connection here that'll help me. Well let's let's make it's a great opportunity with NACO being right here in uh Hillsborough County. Okay. Ms. Yeager?

2:20:39Okay, I have pictures. Alright, this was the Oasis Pregnancy Care Ribbon Cutting. So they're going to be helping families in the community and hopefully saving some babies and just doing wraparound services. The inside of the house is super cute. They have a little baby boutique where people can go shop and get things they need. Alright, next slide. I had a tour of the

2:21:09Supervisor of Elections. I met with Brian Corley and his staff. They are very dedicated to safe and secure elections. That was a really neat tour. I got to go in that special special room back there where they um calculate all the ballots and um Me personally was never a f a fan of um mailing my ballot in, but after going through the process, I feel totally great

2:21:39about it. So we're very blessed to have him as our supervisor of elections. Next slide. So I had the pleasure of going to Moffitt with Casey Kane and Matthew Campbell. So we got to look Look at the overall property and everything they're doing. I wish I had a picture of it, but they we went in this buggy, and Matt Campbell told Casey to give me the full tour, which meant you're

2:22:10going super fast around all these speeds, and they played rock music really loud. And so I got the full experience and the full tour from Office. Um that's gonna be amazing. It's gonna create lots of jobs and we'll have that proton therapy, which will be the third um location in the state to have that. So super excited about that project.

2:22:33Do we know have a date when it's coming?

2:22:36I don't know the date off the top of my head. It was in

2:22:39August but I

2:22:40they were building like they had the the big huge thick walls with the prototype.

2:22:47Oh, another year. Yeah, well yeah, they have to construct it and bring all the equipment against CO2.

2:22:53Yeah, they they had just thought it was arriving this in like in this quarter, but then I heard it got delayed.

2:22:59Yeah, and I think their new projection for jobs created fourteen thousand. Crazy.

2:23:07You want to talk at the mic Mr. Engel?

2:23:10Yeah, just for Moffit.

2:23:13So Moffitt's project uh all their entitlements will generate more than 14,500 jobs. That's just Moffitt jobs. All those partnerships when they come in, full build out 28 to 32,000 jobs. That's good.

2:23:31And I was saying like for even recruitment um and and retention, who would not want to work play in Pasco County? I mean who I'd want to work there like there, Angeline it's gonna be great. So it's an exciting project. Yeah. Yeah.

2:23:50That is well thanks for asking. Um I want to say that uh in Pasco.

2:23:57There we go. Um last Sunday we had a storm event. And I want to say that uh over in Arburdale and Gnome Drive off a ranch road, uh they've had flood-out issues for many, many years. And when we bought out the FGA uh aqua plant, where Palm Terrace is, uh it was going to enable us to decommission a plant, create a whole bunch of more storage, and also uh help with the flooding quite a bit. Now the flooding there that water

2:24:27is probably up three or four feet on the road. But I want to say this for the first time. As much as all that road water is coming in and again we're working best we can. took all our property on the spray field along the edge, we cleaned it all out. We made a ditch. We did along the pond that was beside it. We cleaned out the pipes that were blocked before so the water could get out. Uh we took all the silt that was in the big pond that was there too. We cleaned that out. The the team did a phenomenal job. And then around with the spray f uh with

2:24:57the retention ponds on the uh uh reclaim water ponds around that property. We cleaned out as best we could as well. It's just a something that we did and and and the team did a phenomenal job in very quick fashion. Uh there's still more to be done. I want to say this, with all that water that got there and it did flood out the road for that period of time, it was gone the next day. These people have suffered in the past for weeks at a time. I mean we had one lady who she was a mercy nurse at HCA. She had to leave there because she couldn't count

2:25:28on being able to get it. Uh I want to say this. Uh our team went out there Sunday and I gotta tell you one of the things that drives me with this stormwater stuff when our team has to go out there on holidays, whatever, to deal with this stuff. Our team went out there on Sunday to get with the residents that were right around there. I was out of town. They went around and talked to the residents. They got to see what was going on. And uh working with Jason Nickel, a Publix Works Director, and David Allen, they're gonna find a way to actually take that spray field, which is a massive piece of

2:25:58property, and find a way as they decommission the plant to actually take that land down below the road so it can actually take even more drainage. But I just want to let you know that Sunday they're out there dealing with that, and because of their going out there talking to the folks, we've now we've got a solution that's gonna help us before we get to the final solution through design that's that's in right now. So I just wanna you know, Brantford, your team, thank you for getting the them out there so quick. Barrett Dough was like right on the phone, putting everybody else out there. So thank you for responding uh when I when I couldn't

2:26:28even be there. So thank you. Uh last thing talking about having fun in Pasco County. Um this flyer that you see, um the Pasco Scholarfest, uh our team worked on it. Uh my my staff actually uh saw her and calling kind of develop something and our team developed something even better, so they're using that for the flyer. But I want to tell you like Advent Health we just saw helping out. I talked with them when they were doing a thing at Safety Town with firefighters for that event that we went to, and they said, look,

2:26:58we would like to help get your fire get our firefighters, our EMS folks, to uh the scallop test. Well we took that and kind of went with that, and then the whole community got behind it. From Advent Health to Sports Coach to BRW. to Sertoma who's now partnering just like Hubba Ween does. Uh HCA Florida, even with Advent Health, they're jumping in too. Pasco E D C likes it because they like to get that scalloping out there. Sunwest Harbor Town jumped in Uh with Licucia jumped in, uh

2:27:28Waste Connections jumped in, Ripa, uh US Water, Moss, and I see Reworld but I'm not sure who they are. Uh and then it kind of triggered a little bit with on Saturday nights during these events, Patriotic Fireworks, Don Serenkamp is donating all the fireworks. So as we try to like and I tried to do this last year when we got thirty-seven days for the scalloping. I tried to do it then but we couldn't get the Window done, but all these people are gonna make it so it's gonna be free for our residents. All they gotta do is pay for the parking when they get there. Habaween people are gonna help with the parking. That's

2:27:59one our team with Parks and Rec, they are working together with Shartoma to take care of everything. It's gonna be I think it's gonna be a great event for the whole month for all our residents. Whether they got a great place to go. We got a Jimmy Buffett band that's gonna be out there, a tribute band. We've got a B

2:28:17Uh our local bands, Embry Brothers. Uh Bob Hope band's gonna be out there. Uh John Batista's got a band, he's gonna be out there as well. I mean this gonna be a great, great music all that time through and it's gonna be a great place for when our friends are visiting, now we get something to invite 'em to that it it's gonna be an awesome event. And I appreciate I mean we didn't put my name on there, uh Commissioner Oakley and Starkey you you d you donated as well just because of whatever. But we left that off. But everybody's going to get recognized. And it just this flyer here, we just didn't want to change it. Staff

It's a $6 convenience fee, not to have to drive into my office or call on the phone. and um pay over pay over the phone and we would mail it to you. Those services are still available. You can have it mailed to you or you can come into my office and get it in paper. But now we have a nice convenience for electronic certification and I'm really excited about it

2:30:28Thank you. Uh since I've been gone for the last nineteen days, I don't have much so But the fact I'm I'm wore out and tired from the trip. But uh beautiful Alaska it's strange to hear that Alaska Um has like 275,000 people in Alaska. Now that is a very rural s uh state in in America, so compared to us, we

2:30:58have 270 some thousand people here in in our county. But they had one park one national park there in Alaska, I think it was over sixteen million acres. And it was pretty pretty rough. And there were some areas that were having um they were having some fires and the smoke was affecting people. But they don't have where you like in Georgia and all these properties, a third of the property in Georgia, the forest and all, they actually actually do control burns

2:31:29and do that a third of that every year for three years and you get it all burned, but then it just continues in that cycle. But out out west they do a lot of these properties are Well you can't get to 'em. So uh there's no way you can drive there or things of that nature. They're either by boat or or by some kind of a plane or something to get some of those properties. But beautiful country and it was a little warm. You think of Alaska as it being cold,

2:31:58but I

2:31:59wasn't in those cold areas, so. But beautiful beautiful country. Uh went to Victoria, spent some time in Victoria uh B C and it was very, very beautiful. Yeah. Uh very walkable. Uh went on a Um a taxi but it wasn't on land. It was it was on on the water. We went on a water taxi to move around the area. It's uh pretty neat. But a lot of beautiful architecture, European architecture there in Victoria and

2:32:29spent three days there. But we went three days there, went five days around Alaska on on land and then afterwards took a uh seven day uh cruise around Alaska. So still are a lot of whales and things of that nature.

2:32:45I gotta get there before it's all gone. The the snow pack.

2:32:49Oh it's there. I s I see a lot of uh a lot of glaciers uh still there and by boat we were in Glacier Bay and and saw a lot of that. But it's good I can tell you this it's good to be back home. So uh with that uh that's all we have for the good of the public for today. So we're adjourned.
