National Child Abuse Prevention Month resolution

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Fitzpatrick

Second.

StarkeyChair

All in favor? Aye.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

I would like to speak, yes. Um thank you for everything that you

Fitzpatrick

do. It is very important. I was a guardian at Lightham for several years and they are a court appointed volunteer and they are a voice for the children and it is extremely important. We do need many more Guardian at Lightum volunteers. I know there was last number I had was about twenty four hundred children in the dependency system, so it is very important. that we recruit because they just said nine hundred and forty guardian items. So thank you for everything that you do.

StarkeyChair

Can I say something?

Oakley

Scott, would you like to uh

StarkeyChair

I think this is Commissioner Oakley's resolution, so I

Oakley

think uh I was wondering if she wanted to say something about

Unidentified speakerVoice B

it Yes,

We actually have two hundred and sixty-five active volunteers uh trying to cover uh nine hundred and forty uh children and then there are still uh two hundred and some children that weren't appointed. So our mission is each one with one. Each one does need a voice. Thank you for your service. We know that you are a guardian. We're wearing the blue ribbons uh for Child Abuse uh Prevention Month. So I bought each of you one and if to encourage you at some point if you could wear it standing in the line at Publix or whatever

and somebody says, What is that? you can say, Hey, it's child abuse prevention. Have you considered volunteering for guarding that item? Uh I have seven bags, it's only six, so I was feeling a little bad when I saw Sheriff Nacko because he is a avid supporter, so You get the extra bag today.

Oakley

I would thank the sheriff who's very involved with this issue. Thank you.

StarkeyChair

And uh we'll come down and take a photo?
