CAFR annual audit and peer review
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

What was said
Machine transcription of 4m of recording, with speaker names inferred from voice matching. 100% of 11 lines carry a name. It shows what was said, not what was decided, and both the words and the names can be wrong.
I do. I have some things. First I um passed out some goodies. Uh-huh. So Your kafur? Comprehensive annual financial report and um this is new common sense. See that Ching the sense. Um this is the PAFR, uh we've called it the Common Sense because it is um The way to understand everything that's in this big boy right here. Um this um the CAFR
provides many financial statements that are audited. You all know this. It's annually done. Um we have won the award in excellence in financial reporting for thirty-six years. We're waiting to see if we're gonna have it for the thirty seventh year. They haven't posted out the award winners yet. But I wanted to let you know that and this um common sense is the um user friendly guide to explain and it's it's much um more colorful. Um but it explains really well
the information that's contained within the kaffir itself. Um
I oh, and did you notice um there is a cover model this year on the Cafir? It's John Blummel. I don't know if you know who yeah. So um one of our locals is on the cover, one of our farmers. Hm.
I thought you were talking about the inside cover.
Oh no no no no. You're in you're in the the one too, the other one. You're in common sense as well. Okay, so I wanted to let you know that the CAFER um or the audit, the annual audit is starting November second, so my team is getting ready, your team is getting ready, it's a a consolidated effort on that. I also wanted to mention our Inspector General Office. We um are we put out the questionnaire to your management team as well as
my management team and all of you received letters as well. We're looking to for input and feedback, so that closed up. So I just want to say thank you to the county and to the management of the county for that. That's going to provide input on our annual audit plan. This is the first time we're doing that. And I wanted to make it more of a risk-based audit plan so that we're all informed about what is going to be on that plan. So once we get that information back, the analysis will be done based upon risk,
and we'll put together the audit plan and then actually file it here in the BCC meeting on a consent item so that everyone can see that. Um we are in the Inspector General's office. We're on a journey to be peer-reviewed. Uh peer-reviewed is the gold standard. For credibility and reliability in internal auditing. It is international standards. So we're on our way there. It's about a three-year process. We've used this first year as meeting clerk to do our first year, so
we have two years left. And next year we'll have a mock review, and that's when certified auditors come in and audit our auditors. So we'll have a hopefully a gold level of audits in the next say two-year time period. So I just wanted to say thank you for providing the feedback on those surveys for our Inspector General's office and just trying to raise the level of the products that we provide. And the last thing I wanted to mention, I mentioned it last time, but it's just a reminder, Monday we will have our in-service,
so we'll have our office-wide trainings will be virtual and that'll be September 28th all day. So our office will be closed to the public and to your offices for training. That's it. Thank you. All right,
thank you. All right. Let's see if I can talk for two hours.
