Mariano Country Club Estates and veteran event

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Thank you. Yeah that we kinda did a tourism related Keys to that. Yeah. Commissioner Mariano.

Jack Mariano

Thank you. And uh th thanks to Mike Carbell and the team for scheduling c Country Club Estates, which is gonna do their cleanup this Sunday. Um looking forward to that. I just drove through the neighborhood again and I tell you we when we did the road paving assessment, the neighborhood looks phenomenal. I don't know if we're gonna get forty six tons. But well go go we're gonna go through it 'cause it's it's really come a long way and they appreciate this film motor improvements. Um I'd like to say I I appreciate the board this morning and Mike with this team again uh You know, with the BP Resturact

money, we've been looking trying to get money for many, many years, sitting on the committee trying to like work to get what we can for Pasco when we did very well with Part Three. But uh we had an al extra allocation Uh not doing a project in Cruise Lake at 1.4 million sitting for the County Commission? Uh and we took advantage of that today on consent agenda. So that 1.4 million can go code the dredge, which is gonna help quite a bit for for cutting the cost down. So We're lucky to get it. Staff did a great job setting it all up and coordinating and I appreciate the board going through with that. Now for a really good thing, uh

we got a video. On uh October eighth, we had a World War Two veteran, Navy veteran, Jim Rickus, uh, that would someone's gonna plan an event. And it was funny 'cause I saw it on Facebook just like a little pink pink blurb on a screen saying, a hundred year old veteran gonna join at the Hudson Library at one o'clock. So I put in the calendar and I go and Uh the day before that I think it was Kathy Pearson calls me up. She goes You know, in your district there's something really big going on. I think you wanna wanna be there. It's kinda

like really d developing. I go, really, what is it? So she tells me about it, so I go to my calendar and bam, there it is. So What Kathy did with the team you're going to see here is absolutely phenomenal. The enthusiasm in the whole neighborhood. We had people that were watching it on Facebook Live, jumping out, jumping in the cars, and getting behind the line just to kind of get in and to support this guy. And uh you'll you'll see the quotes at the end. When when this world what you better get back

Mike Carballa

Um you know, for a veteran coming back and You know, those days you just came back, you just went back to doing what you were doing. Uh so he really, really appreciated the uh the p the the support that was out there and it was pretty cool. Now kinda neat staff did such a great job. The total reach Uh on Facebook was two hundred and seven thousand and three. Uh engagements fifteen thousand seven thirty seven hundred seventy-three,

likes almost twelve thousand, shares eight hundred and thirty, comments three hundred and thirty-eight And I'll tell you, even my mailman, who th but this guy's actually a retired mailman as well. He come up to me and goes, Wow, he says that was that was awesome what you guys did for that man. That's cool. So uh staff, Kathy, the whole team. I mean just it was it was just an awesome day. Pasco County supporting their veterans, showing how much we care. Uh this gentleman got to see it in a in a great way. So just a feel good story. Good
