County administrator budget and county attorney property tax guidance
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.
The source document
The county’s minutes for Board of County Commissioners, Jun 16, 2026
The published PDF, as served by the county. This item is one entry in it.
What was said
Machine transcription of 4m of recording, with speaker names inferred from voice matching. 50% of 16 lines carry a name. It shows what was said, not what was decided, and both the words and the names can be wrong.
Yeah. Mr. Carbano. Okay. Three quick hitters. First is just a reminder that on Thursday, June 18th at 9 a.m. Here we will have your budget workshop. We've we've briefed you all individually on the various states of affairs with with the budget. We won't be covering capital at this particular budget hearing, but we will be covering the operational sides as well as the constitutional officers will be here too to present their budget. And talk about their particular challenges. That is on this Thursday. Second, and really
just second and third are really just some good news items. Our budget office, again, it's been been working really, really hard, but they were named the Government Finance Officer Associations. They won what they call the Triple Crown here for fiscal year 25, for 24, excuse me, a certificate of achievement for excellence in finance. Popular annual financial uh reporting award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. So again, they continue their commitment to excellence as well as transparency through the budgeting process. And
we know that that is that work is never done, but will continue to do so as as we we endeavor. Down the budgeting process. Um and then also our fleet management department was also ranked in the top 20 of leading fleets in the in the country for 2026 by the government fleet and American Public Works Association. Again, that's a national award that evaluates efficiency, effectiveness, uh, as well as other metrics in in relation to keeping what is what is at large government expense for us. Uh but uh
our fleet guys. do it, do it well and do it efficient efficiently and effectively. That's all, sir.
Thank you. Does it do copies of those go to the governor's office?
I'm sorry, sir. Do copies of those go to
the governor's
office? I I I hope somebody's listening, but yes. Thank you.
Mr.
Sanderstein. Um based on a conversation with the administrator, we are putting together well, let me rephrase this. So So Florida Association of County Attorney
still sitting on that board has been putting together a
List of things that you can do or not do for the property tax amendment discussion. Uh League of Cities has also put out a document. Mike and I had talked about providing you sort of a synopsis of those two documents um to let you know what you can legally do under the election communication electioneering
communication law in Florida with regard to the uh upcoming ballot initiative on property taxes. And so we'll be getting that out to you in the next week or so.
Question for you. Does that apply to let's say if you're getting a call from a news source that wants to interview you. Will that'll be applicable to what you're talking about? So not us doing something, we're just being interviewed.
We will I'll be glad to cover things like that in the in the memo, but um that would not be considered electioneering communication in my in my opinion.
Um and you as elected officials have more discretion uh or ability to say things than the administrator and his staff do. Okay. Right. We're working.
