Confirm Sally Sherman as Assistant County Administrator

Um wanna introduce and ask for your confirmation of Miss Sally Sherman is the new assistant county minister for development services. Uh as as she comes up Uh real quick, we started this process. We had over a hundred applicants. We went through Um reviewed the resumes built into did some phone interviews, did some video interviews, some Skypes, add some Q ⁇ A so we could kind of get some feedback on that, narrowed

1:31:26it down over a period of time to four that we brought in a couple weeks ago. Had a reception with some stakeholders. Um and then also had another day long worth of interviews and introduction around the county and so As a result of all that, Uh want to introduce and ask that you confirm uh Miss Sally Sherman. Uh she's got over thirty years of experience doing this kind of work in various locations and is the perfect blend of experience and the leadership, mentoring and coaching that we need in that branch right now. And

1:32:09Good morning, Chair Commissioners. I'm excited to be here joining the team here at Pasco County. As um the administrators indicated, I come to you bringing a plethora of in uh hist work history in local government, specifically in development services. And one of the key things that I think is important. Based on the feedback that I've been receiving is that once I got into local government after receiving a master's in public administration

1:32:39and management, I felt it was important that I learned also how to work with our human resource and that's our team and help them to be successful. So I'm excited about being a part of the team and look forward to working with each and every one of you. Thank you.

1:32:53Right. Well thank you, Ms. Sherman. And maybe just give us an idea since this is confirmation, a little more background I guess, on um where you your your last job was and maybe some of the places you've been.

1:33:04I've worked for two counties and two cities. I work for uh the cities of Leesburg and Deltona and had an opportunity to work with, you know, Deltona was a bedroom community, fast growing bedroom community. Work with Leesburg that was somewhat rural moving forward and helped them tan X almost 5,000 acres into their city and to Grow a commercial, retail, and industrial center with

1:33:34supporting housing. I also worked for Seminole County for 25 years, and that's where I gained the majority of my experience. In fact, I started at the very bottom of the organization as a clerk typist and ended up being their deputy county administrator all. along working in the planning and development arena. My last tenure was with the um county of Flagler and I was there for a decade. Um again, another fast growing community that

1:34:05had some challenges and opportunities that we've um faced head on.

1:34:15Yes. Um I I greatly appreciate meeting you today and uh met with her and Todd Bailey. We haven't had. Uh it was great meeting you today with Todd Bailey and having our conversation. Um and something I want to say is your resume is phenomenal. This is probably gonna be your biggest challenge ever. Um you've got a great supporting staff though. We've got a great team up there. We've got uh you're gonna get great help I think from Todd. Um Paula. I know Dan will be right there with you trying to help you go through the process and Um I've actually

1:34:45got it in line and I want to open this up to everybody, but I've I put a list together about fifty-five different people between contractors, business people, et cetera, that would like to meet with her at some point. So we're gonna do a little forum here. Probably in August once she gets established. So I'm gonna pass that list out. If you guys wanna add people to the list too and bring 'em out, I think it'd be good for her to hear from the people. to what she's gonna be what what they're facing and then she can look at it broad scope after being there for well say a week or so. you know, achieve success. Um I've heard a lot of good things about you, and I'd like to have you reach out to my Secretary Marie Miller and set up a meeting and come visit with me. So I think I heard something about streamlining.

1:36:10So but there's there's a lot to the um position you're taking that's very, very important to this county and we look forward to working with you. So
