What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

Okay, so that's all we have for the consent agenda. Uh now we'll go to committee reports. Those commissioner

Ron Oakley

Oakley? Um Oh just one thing I I've been Watching because of the ice rink over and uh res been built o or it has been built over and uh Residential area. Uh I was of the understanding that the gentleman had not received his traffic studied or what he had to do to be able to open up. And in fact he's he or his consultant has been notified within the last two years and knows what he needs to do, but hasn't started

that process. So I'm looking forward to that being open when it is, but he's gotta do Things to finish it or is traffic in that area. Thank you, sir. Okay. That's all I have. Okay. Commissioner

Seth Weightman

Weightman. Thank you. Uh I'd like three appointments. Today. And uh my third out From the V OPH, Paul Fenora, from Planning Commission, for right now, Mr. Peter Hansel. And for the status of the Commission Women, Ms. Jenny Hingley. And I'd like to thank everybody, staff, and the new board for welcoming us over the last two weeks and a great ceremony in Dade

City and more than welcome and excited to be here. here.

There's three. Paul for the VPH,

Ron Oakley

Peter has a reappointment. It's different than our planning commission.

Seth Weightman

Peter Handels currently serving on the planning commission. Oh yeah.

And then Jinny Ying Lee Uh to be reappointed to the Commission on the status of women. Um Okay. So thank you all and then I'd be remiss. I'll

Ron Oakley

second that.

Seth Weightman

Motion.

Do

we have motion and

Jack MarianoVice Chair

second?

Seth Weightman

Yes.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

Motion. Motion and second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. Okay.

Seth Weightman

Thank you. And then also like uh to join Mr. Karbala and Mr. Steinsteiner are singing happy birthday. To Commissioner Bradford.

Gary Bradford

Oh

Seth Weightman

Lord.

Gary Bradford

I'm not singing. I'm gonna spare it. I can't wait for this. We'll table that.

Ron Oakley

I

Gary Bradford

want to

Ron Oakley

hear this actually.

Okay. Uh I left out one item and and it's very, very important to me and I know it's important to this board. Um It is great to see there as part of Pasco County and And a part of the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners. uh serving with staff that like we have. that make up many, many teams that go out and represent this county. and do it so very, very well that they're recognized all over because of their good doings. And

I just want to say thank you to all our staff for For all they do. in in that. So it's just it means a lot when you've got staff that goes out and does the work they do that represents our county which we all very much love. So I just want to make that statement. Okay. Thank you.

Seth Weightman

I'm sorry, Mr. Chairman

Jack MarianoVice Chair

Mariano.

Seth Weightman

Although the sidewalk project, the schools that are looking at being receiving those funds for sidewalks are Hudson and 5A.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

All right,

Seth Weightman

so good news there.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

Yeah. Excellent. Okay. Commissioner Bradford.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

No, you skipped me.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

Oh it's it's right. Sorry. Sorry. I'm not used to this angle. I had nothing to do with this.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

I have some photos if they if you could put those up. But um um while they're loading those up, I wanted to share with you um that I was uh honored to be appointed to the NACO Board of Directors. And um I just got the email here just a little while ago that I I had heard it was a rumor but it is in fact true. So um so that's that's uh thank you. Um One of um three commissioners in the state. As long as we're a one hundred percent state, uh if someone drops out then we're two and one of

us loses our position. But um it does require a little bit of traveling. There's four or five meetings a year, but two of them are Um Ones hour det the ledge conference and the annual conference. So uh but we get a lot done and I'm excited about it. I'm I I wanted to go over these but it's too long a day so I'm not going to but I these are some of the policies that we're looking at at FAC. I'm gonna get you some more, but these are

um some very important um proposals that We'll go over at the next meeting. And then lastly If I could

Jack MarianoVice Chair

before you go further.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

No, that's not the m map I want, but

Jack MarianoVice Chair

I I I do want you know I wrote you a letter of recommendation for the position. You've done a great job with FAC. Uh NACO, you're very well respected there. I mean doing a great job on it, so I know you're a very productive member. So

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Thank you. My husband thinks I'm nuts. And um but you gotta learn to say no, but I'll try it for a little bit. Um so this is our standard road n um And along State Boat 52, as the state has widened it, we've added a multi-use path on the north side. And um I was driving home from the Dade City meeting and got went down Prospect onto Clinton Avenue extension. Is this the only map? Okay. And I just was really dismayed

to see Um that we did not continue The multi use trail. The Multiuse Trail stops at curling. We have a very popular important trail going Going down three oh one. I call it the three oh one trail. Um I was there at the ribbon cutting years ago. Go it connects Dade City to Zephyrhills and eventually to Hillsborough County and Pump. And um that we did not continue this multi

use trail From Curly. It's a three oh one. It's a big miss. And I don't know how we fix it, but I'd like to find a way to fix it. Um, which is gonna cost us money, we're gonna have to Work with the landowners to the north, but This just just brings to light that we're not all firing on the same cylinders. We're not all on the same page. That someone made a decision to stop it at curly.

Marie Hant

And

Kathryn StarkeyChair

um I've talked to Mr. Kabbalah and other people about it, but That's a really expensive mistake. So very disappointing. Thank you. I'll uh I have a lot of other stuff but I'm gonna do it next week. Yeah, the Orange Belt Trail public meeting uh at Starkey Cultural Center going on and I wanna be there for the presentation.

Gary Bradford

Okay. Commissioner Bradford, I will be brief.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

I will not be at the TMA meeting.

Um Commissioner Fitzpatrick was on the TMA. We need to reappoint someone in her place to the TMA. That's a transportation. Alliance Do we call it something different?

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Commissioner Starkey, that that appointment should be made by the MPO.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Oh, okay. We'll talk about that. All right, thank you.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Yeah.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

there is

Unidentified speakerVoice A

a

Jack MarianoVice Chair

meeting coming up Friday. So

Kathryn StarkeyChair

we

Jack MarianoVice Chair

can have anyone be show up as an alternate.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Well I'm just saying there are city representatives that could be on the TMA as well, so then they're not here.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

True. True. But the the meetings cut the meeting's coming up is on Friday. If she can't be here and and the others want to participate, which I'll talk I was gonna talk about under my committee reports under my committee reports under my appointments anyway. Um it's it's uh it's worthy for w anyone can go representing this council anyway to To that council.

So good. Continue on with what you're going to say about the T M A.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Well it's just very important. We we uh meet with the The commissioners from Hillsborough and Penellas and cities, all all in the circle with D O T. and um talk about regional transportation issues and as T BARTA's changing um and we'll talk about that um also um what the plan is for that. It's just uh important important place to discuss um and prioritize regional transportation. Projects.

And if we only have one or two and there's a vote, It's happened. We we have to car our way back up to get fifth fifty-four and forty-one on the regional list. of importance. So um it's really good if um Well

Unidentified speakerVoice A

I think if you had a commissioner that was willing to attend from this group, you could probably just get the MPO to ratify that that That's election at the next MBO meeting. But you would need one of these board members to

Kathryn StarkeyChair

And if you want more information, we can have staff give it to you so you know what your commitment is.

Are you doing uh committee appointments today?

Jack MarianoVice Chair

I'm not gonna do them today, but I was uh those gonna be part of my questions I was gonna ask about. So I was gonna get to that. But before I before we go there. Oh. I'll bring Carl up and we'll talk about it too.

Commissioner Bradford. Thank you,

Gary Bradford

Mr. Chairman. I want to talk about the planning. Uh Pasco County Planning Commission. First of all. I'd like to uh thank Don Anderson for his service. As you know, uh Commissioner Can a point uh concurrent with uh their term? Uh I'd like to appoint Derek Ponslet as my choice for the Planning Commission. Derek's got a n uh wealth of knowledge and experience. Spanning two decades in finance, lending, insurance, health care, real

estate. and will bring a fresh perspective to the commission. His years of involvement with local charity and civic organizations is testament to his commitment to the success of Pasco County. And I believe he will be a great asset and I would ask for your favorable support on that.

Patricia Yovino

Second.

Gary Bradford

Great choice. All in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. Okay.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Oh

Gary Bradford

my

Kathryn StarkeyChair

gosh. He's doing it already.

Gary Bradford

Mr. Chairman Mariano

I need a we need a higher.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Before we leave the planning commission appointment, um there's a planning commission meeting this Thursday. I'm not sure he's gonna be prepared to make that effective for the neck the following Planning

Gary Bradford

Commission meeting? Well I was told.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Yes.

Gary Bradford

Okay. To answer your question, yes.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Okay, thank you.

Gary Bradford

Yeah. I'd like to uh also thank everybody for uh feeling uh making me feel welcome. Uh there's a lot to uh learn. Especially Mike and Joanna if you've uh tolerating my incessant phone calls and and uh thank you for teaching me what a acca is. I thought that was pretty good. With all the acas I've tried to meet as many people as I can, uh, and I'm looking forward to it. It's exciting. Uh and we will work hard as hard as we can every

day to get up to speed. Uh And I the only other thing I have is I really think we hi need to hire a um doctor for the County Commission because I just spent fifteen million dollars. And that's the most money I ever spent in my life on having heart I'm having chest pains.

But I sold fifteen million, so

Kathryn StarkeyChair

you do have to count the zeros.

Gary Bradford

I'm just kidding. I'm I'm just kidding. But uh anyway, it was uh it was a very exciting time. So let me ask for some money. I only want sixty five hundred bucks. So Purdue Street's an unpaved dirt road in Moon Lake.

Luis

Ooh, it's wet

Gary Bradford

the states. The road is substandards, publicly dedicated, not county maintained, and has been determined impassable. by fire rescue. I would like to make a motion for a one time fix Uh Purdue Street, the estimated cost is sixty five hundred dollars. We have a motion and a second.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Is that a a road we can legally?

Unidentified speakerVoice B

It is. He said it was publicly dedicated.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Okay. And it's never been fixed before by us?

Gary Bradford

That I don't know.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Oh Oh there's lots of these.

Seth Weightman

Daily life. We know in my in my daily life in in servicing essential service, solid waste. Five typically if a fire fire truck or an S first respondent vehicle can't down there Folks can't get garbage service. And obviously we know you know, we have clean up events in in Moon Lake and we do everything we can to help keep it clean so Knowing these roads like like I do and knowing that the the cleanup efforts that are that are constantly going on there, I I support this.

Unidentified speakerVoice B

Yeah, yeah.

Well the standard is called a one time fix. If a firetruck can't get down it You need to fix it.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

Yeah, no, no. I I I'll I'll go for it. I just I just I mean there's

Gary Bradford

I'm the new guy on the block and she's gonna give me a hard time.

Kathryn StarkeyChair

I am. I gotta watch the money. Remember that? 65. All right, let's go.

Jack MarianoVice Chair

All right, we have a motion of a second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. Any opposed? Thank you. Unanimously passed. Thank you, sir. Thank you. All right. So we have? All you have? Okay. Um Madam Clerk?
