Commissioner closing comments and announcements
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Thank you. Um Commissioner Starkey, just a quick question. This was handed out, was this from you? Do you want to include it in anything?
Uh no, I I'm gonna bring it up. Um you can either save it or um toss it and I'll give you another one next board meeting but it's too long to start
going
into these. Then I'll leave it for you to bring it back.
Yeah. Okay. Um and the uh the other thing I just wanted to say was um congratulations to Commissioner Bradford and Commissioner Weightman. I'm very excited that you're on the board and I get to start uh continue to work with you and I'm looking forward to that and I'm looking forward to continued working with the other board members. Um I think we work very well together and I'm excited you're here. So welcome and I'm sorry I missed your swearing in. I actually did watch it. I know I'm one of those crazy people. I watched it. Um I I I very
much enjoyed it. I liked seeing your families up there. Um it meant it I know it means a lot and to have be surrounded by um your family and your friends. friends in the audience, but just know I was watching from afar. Thank you. Um but congratulations. Thank you.
Okay, just Mr. County Attorney. I don't have anything for you, thank you. All right, I just have two things I want to talk about. One is real quick. Um we talked about the Tampue. Well one well this is pretty quick, but it's important and especially with Commissioner Weightman brought up uh about Tampa Planning Regional Count Council. They have also have the estuary program. And uh I am I attend it when I can. When I can't, Colleen Weaver, my assistant, attends it. Uh you've heard me talk about baffle boxes a few times. We
talked about pot two money trying to get it when we can. Uh the state pretty much controlled it. And I'll say by our participation and and working with it really closely. Um the Tim Bay Estuary Program and Regional Planning Council put a joint application in for 9.5 million for baffle boxes.
Nice.
Which will help with a lot of water quality up and down the whole coast. So that's one good thing we're getting back from that and that's right by by being that committee moving forward and and being active with it. Um having said that, the next thing I wanted to talk about really quickly is on Friday we do have the TMA meeting. Uh a couple of things. for our two new commissioners. Um is Moffat is very excited about trying to make that Rail line coming up to CSX. Yeah. Very, very critical. And I think, you know, Angeline,
Moffat, et cetera, everything coming up in there is something that I think the resident commissioners should be pushing real hard. I push for it as Commissioner Starkey will tell you from get from the get-go. We had Bob O'Malley from CSX give us a presentation, show us all we could do. They've all gone back from it. But I think as a resident commissioner, I think you should really go to that. Um on another note. We've got that ex bus express rapid bus coming from Wesley Chapel running through, which we're trying to do, the bus rapid transit supported by
uh all over Tampa Bay. Everybody maybe ch maybe things change in Hillsborough now with the new election. Um, the other uh councilman um from
And I think you two guys would be a great addition to that. And if you'd be willing to go for Friday. I think it'd be a great move going forward. Yeah. So I don't know. I just wanted to get your thoughts on that as I have I don't make it the appointment for that, the MPO makes that. And you you you have to ask her to go, but Knowing that this meeting's coming up Friday, we don't have time for an M PO meeting. Um if you guys think you'd go, I wouldn't go and I
Where is it? Is it at D O T?
Uh I'm not sure.
Um Commissioner Mariano um CSX came and made a presentation to TBARTA and you can get that on YouTube and it's Very interesting. So I recommend everyone go watch it.
Okay, we shall watch it anyway. Uh so do you think your general wan wanna go if you don't answer now, don't answer, but I just I just want to throw it there. Okay.
Email me, let me know, just so if I know you're going or not. Either way. Uh I don't have to answer now. On another note,
you know, um excuse me, Commissioner Overman and I were co-chairs. And neither one of us are gonna be there Friday, so Someone's gonna have to chair it. I don't know who that is. So step in there, Jack.
Uh I oh believe me, one of them if it's I just don't want four of them showing either.
Yeah.
So however it may be, we'll we'll get make sure it's covered. Um
Um there's a list of malls. If you put your priorities down, put them one, two, three, uh, four, five, however you want to do it. And if you want to make a special note to me as far as why you like this one better, why you think it's best for that too, I'll incorporate that two with my decision making and I'll have those ready for the next meeting we have. Uh th are there any points I have to make? Today that we know of
Okay. I
don't think probably everything's fine.
