State checks for Lindrick Ackerman and Betch Paul

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Ron OakleyChair

Okay. Um have a time certain so the commissioner is a very good thing.

Jack Mariano

here. Time certain is here.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

If you're okay with it, I'll do my my commissioner items because it probably won't get to it this afternoon. And then we'll do Amber and then I'll leave.

Ron OakleyChair

No, No, the time certain here.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

I w I'll do this next time.

Not a ball.

Ron OakleyChair

All right.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Yeah. Uh no I'm gonna make

Ron OakleyChair

eleven. R R sixty seven.

Mm.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Except

Mike Moore

for a butter on. Oh I think Commissioner Mariano wants to say something.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Well I do, it's my d my district and my deal.

Um if you don't mind, um we welcome um Representative Mariano uh to the chamber. Uh do you want to say a few words about the Lindrik? Um uh gift that we got from the state.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Yeah, so good morning everyone. Happy to be here with you today. It's actually been a very long time since I've been in the chamber with you guys. So I'm happy to be bearing good news. As you guys are aware, we got two projects done this year in Tallahassee that are going through the county. One is Lindrick. This board has been very pivotal in getting the improvement of water quality for these people and the improvement in the rate. Um and so just

want to thank you for all that you've done and You know, whenever we can partner, it's great to partner and happy to bring home three point eight million dollars to keep moving this in the in the right direction. And a lot of that is thanked to you thanks to you, Commissioner Starkey, for your advocacy. Uh and of course Commissioner Mariano. I'm a little biased there. He may be my favorite, so

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Um better be. So members, um With this money, I think I'd have um Mr. Karbala very briefly, like in one minute, explain what we're gonna do with this money because I promised the legislators it's going to capital uh improvements. So

Okay.

Mike Moore

Mike's not on. Have you hit the button?

Unidentified speakerVoice B

He did.

Cheryl Orchard

The

Mike Moore

button in the back.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

No, that's that's their button.

Mike Carballa

Probably uh Mike Carbal, assistant county administrator of public infrastructure. Yes, uh we're we're taking that money and actually putting it to use now, as a matter of fact. Uh coming before you in a in a few few board meetings, we'll have an agreement with the FGUA where we're actually taking this money to get ahead of the game, start lining these sewer projects uh that are that are leaking already in into this system and make badly needed improvements as well as I think some discrete water improvements too with that to improve water quality of the area. It's not enough to meet all the capital needs of the system, but every dollar counts

and we really appreciate it.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

So being a as as a resident of Gulf Harbors when we have a water break, which is frequent They have to pretty much shut the whole community down and this will help alleviate that uh from people not having any water or having to do the boil water, right? That's what I understand. So um very grateful. Shall we take a photo?

Charles Eldred

Yes. Good.

Unidentified speakerVoice B

Mm-hmm.

Nectarios Pittos

Yeah, we do that.

Unidentified speakerVoice B

All right, folks right here, please.

Oh okay.

Nectarios Pittos

Yeah.

Unidentified speakerVoice B

Thank you.

Nectarios Pittos

You're gonna do a second photo after this one too.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Most walk down. Yeah.

Why?

What's What's this one? I got more. Oh, we're one. I have to mind.

Unidentified speakerVoice B

Oh yeah. Someone think about it if they want to have

great.

Mike Moore

Is there one more?

Unidentified speakerVoice B

No, we have a plan build eventually.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Oh, she's doing another? Well I'll just explain the one we just took a picture with. Uh so I know uh uh Commissioner Fitzpatrick worked on this one as well. Um and this one's for two hundred thousand dollars for Ackerman Street for flooding. You know, I was first elected. Flooding was the number one issue in the area. Slowly, you know, with your work primarily a lot of these issues has been have been curbed, um, but there's still plenty of work to be done. So happy to get two hundred thousand dollars to help the flooding in that area.

So just thank you guys for all that you do and hopefully next session we can do this again.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

And last night last night we celebrated uh with Amber the check for Betch Paul and Ministries. What was that? How much five million? Five million. Five million dollars as going to their new facility and holiday. So thank you so much.

Christina Fitzpatrick

Thank you guys. I Mr. Chairman, I I I would like to say thank you. Um because Uh w I had worked for the two hundred thousand dollars for the floodwater mitigation project on Ackerman and Trouble Creek in downtown Newport Ritchie in my district. So thank you.

Unidentified speakerVoice A

Thank you for all your help.

Christina Fitzpatrick

Sure.

Ron OakleyChair

Just time do you want to do your um

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

Micromash real quick?

Ron OakleyChair

Yeah, we can.

Kathryn StarkeyVice Chair

All right, throw those questions. We have a little time, we'll skip

Ron OakleyChair

that over with.
