We received two signed original agreements from HOK that contained editing marks on pages one, twenty, and twenty-seven. Facilities removed those editing editing marks uh to provide clean pages. No other changes were made. Um clean signed agreement has been sent to Board Records. Yeah. And it's presented here with a recommendation for approval.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Um I'm I'm I was looking at the details of the agreement and it's going to be about four years of design work. Uh the companies from Missouri Uh are we all comfortable with how long it's gonna take? Because I haven't seen anything as I knew we had so a lot of local companies I thought were gonna be bidding on it, but Um I'm just wondering why there was only a a few companies or why we ended up with one from Missouri.
Mr. Baxter or Mr. Brightonbach, can you answer?
Yeah, I'd be happy to answer. So we we put together a uh a com uh committee that involved uh Eric Breitenbach, myself, uh T J Pasche, our chief project manager. um a captain and a lieutenant from the sheriff's office to review all of the applications. Ultimately it was decided that HOK was the was the most qualified design firm. They are a leading design firm internationally and also the
number one design firm when it comes to detention design um in the nation. And we were uh we were very impressed with their with their scope and their understanding of of what was necessary to build this jail. And the four-year time commitment is truly uh because of the the process that we're going through with the construction manager at risk, the design firm is on on standby throughout not only the design phase, but also the construction administration
phase of this process to ensure that everything is built exactly to design.

Yeah, I uh why does it take four years? 'Cause, you know, that's a long time just in design. And and we're running behind the eight ball trying to You know, have room for Um detain it.
So let me rephrase the the the initial design period is estimated to take one year. The construction administration, which is also related to the design work, when the contractor actually takes over as the lead in the project, then the design firm takes a secondary role. Um that will take the construction of the facility will take approximately three years total. Um, but the design portion is about a year to a year and a half.
Okay, I understand. That's that's a step process and I understand that. That's good.
This is the the overall pro the overall project is four years. Yeah,

Um Jack Mariano. I I hope that we're gonna be involved through this process as well. I mean we talked about mental health facilities located in the courthouse out in the same area. So I hope we're gonna be involved this whole process, what's gonna go out there together. Because I haven't seen much of it and I'm not sure. I I feel like we should have more involvement.
We can certainly ensure that you're involved in our stakeholder briefings and and make sure that you're involved in the visioning sessions. Absolutely, sir. And I mean that as a commission, not just myself.
