I'm gonna go ahead and read the resolution. By the Board of County Commissioners, resolution number twenty-six dash three nine six, a resolution by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, declaring the month of October as Manufacturing Month, and Friday, October 2nd, 2026, as Manufacturing Day in Pasco County. Whereas October is nationally recognized as Manufacturing Month and National Manufacturing Day is observed on the first Friday of October. Throughout the month, manufacturers across the county host students,
teachers, parents, job seekers, and other local community members to open at open houses, plant tours, and presentations designed to showcase today's advancing advanced manufacturing technology and high-wage career opportunities. And whereas during National Manufacturing Month and Manufacturing Day, we commit to strengthening and Supporting the manufacturers and hardworking manufacturing employees of today as well as the manufacturers of the future. And whereas the priorities of the Manufacturing Month are to
change the perception of careers in manufacturing to reflect its true status as the most advanced high-tech industry in the country, reestablish the U.S. as the global leader of manufacturing education, advocate for education. on job training and job training policies and to strengthen that strengthen the U.S. manufacturing workforce and inspire the next generation of manufacturers. And RAS Florida is taking steps to diversify its economy. And strengthen its workforce by establishing
a plan to invest in skills-based education to make Florida number one in workforce education by 2030, so that companies can continue to draw from an outstanding pool of talent. And whereas Pasco County is fortunate to be home to many great organizations that support local manufacturing, including Bay Area Manufacturers Association. Skills, Career Source Pasco Hernando, Pasco Economic Development Council, Pasco Hernando State College, and the Pasco County School District.
And whereas by working with educational institutions, the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners and local manufacturers have and continue to work together to connect with future generations, build the next generation of skilled manufacturing employees. Take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. And REST Manufacturing Month and Manufacturing Day serve as opportunities to recognize all professional agencies. And organizations who
bring value to Pasco County's manufacturing industry and economy. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, that said board hereby declares the month of October as manufacturing month and declares Friday, October 2nd, 2026 as manufacturing day in Pasco County. Done and resolved in regular session with a quorum present and voting. This twenty second day of September twenty twenty six.

Yes, thank you. I'm I'm always happy to uh sponsor this resolution. Uh you know when I was on the school board, one of my focuses became workforce training, knowing that we had really moved away from that across the country on our school districts. And um And then when I learned about the shortage of engineers and and manufacturing um programs, it really became a focus to me. Uh I can't think of anything more important to this country, especially
in what we're going through right now. Um than um bringing back onshoring our manufacturing has left this country. So um I know I know I'm speaking to the choir here. Um but um I really uh welcome you here today and I'm happy we have this time to shine a light on how important manufacturing is.

Yeah, I'm sorry. So uh so good morning, uh Chairman and Commissioners. I I have some prepared words here. Um my photographic memory's kind of running on one ten film here. So uh um just wanna let you know it's truly an honor to stand here before you folks and accept this manufacturing month proclamation on behalf of all the manufacturers and manufacturing community across Pasco County. Manufacturing month is about something very important as was mentioned. Showing people what's possible and across this country, thousands of manufacturers open their doors each
October to students, teachers, parents, job seekers, and community members. My own shop is open anytime they come by.
You know what, before you keep going, why don't you introduce
yourself? So my name is Bombay. I I'm actually general manager for a small company called American Metal Machine. Um we're over on Congress Street. Um, you mentioned engineers, that's really what we are, an engineering fabrication and design house. Um I'm not a Florida resident, but I have been here for long enough I think I pretty close. Um But but with that, you know, manufacturing offers high wages, good jobs. I mean And I grew up in this industry. I want my kids to grow up in it. Um, we did make a big move
away from it, you know, and I think, you know, through the combined efforts of the group, you know, that's what we're trying to do is promote more manufacturing. Um and we're doing that through virtual manufacturing, you know, facility tours, um, in person student tours. I I welcome college kids all the time, try to teach them what I know about manufacturing. um right or wrong. Um but you know, we we we walk 'em through, we we s let 'em see the technology in action. We talk with people doing the work and discover careers that m may have never been known existed.
Um people get to see all that manufacturing is about. It's not just about machines. It's about the people that that make the things that that turn the gears and make our lives easier. Um, it's about technology, innovation, solving problems and building things that matters. And like I say, companies like mine are a great example. Um we deserve deliver precision sheet metal solutions for industrial, commercial, marine, aquaculture. w medical device, we're getting into defense and I'm I'm training the next
line of manufacturing professionals. That's what I do. They come in with no skills and they leave able to operate their own company. Um And that's the message, you know, we want for for our workers and students is um to to not take away from what manufacturing is, but show them, you know, where it's beneficial. And we have great partnerships. Uh Bama, obviously, who we're here to represent, and Skills is really, really instrumental in in a lot of resources, especially for myself and for small
businesses. Um you've got the career source for Pasco Hernando, Pasco Hernando State College, and the Pasco EDC. So there's a lot of good resources. It's just getting out and talking to folks. Um and also most importantly, um we want to say thank you to the manufacturers who open their doors and invest their time in the next generation. Um Commissioner Starkey, you and I have met before and uh I'd like to thank all the the commissioners for recognizing, you know, what what we do, you know,
and how we impact everything that goes on in our everyday life. Um The proclamation recognizes an industry, but more importantly, it recognizes the people who are building Pasco County's future. We're proud to be here. We're proud to manufacture here. I'm trying to expand my business. We all are. We we believe in this county. We believe in the people. We want to give them good opportunity. And you know, we appreciate this award very, very much. So thank you.

Hello, I'm Beth Gallack with the Bay Area Manufacturers Association, or also known as Bama. Thank you all for this recognition of Manufacturing Month. It's so important that we recognize manufacturing and promote this with our students for them to see with their own eyes when they step into a manufacturing facility. The robotics, advanced manufacturing, the clean. Air conditioned facilities, and they might think of a career that they'd never thought of before. So
that's really our goal is to put that seed in their mind because they can really learn that here in Pasco County we have 400 or more manufacturing facilities with over thousands of jobs, that they can really see that here in Pasco County they can learn, they can grow, they can. work and they can succeed and that is our goal. Last week I spent some time in Washington, DC. Um got meeting with some of our legislators, but I also introduced herwood, CEO of Am Skills. Um but last week I spent some time in um DC with some of our legislators, but I also spent time with the US Navy SIB program, which is what builds our submarines. Well wants to build our submarines. And right now we're building many of those in Australia. Which is a lot closer to some of our enemies than it is us. And they want to bring that home. And we started talking that we need more manufacturing and we would need to train those
individuals. So thank you to everybody behind me who's helping us do that and AmSkills who's looking forward to bringing that home. The heat map across the country is obviously around the um coastline, but the heat map for building these pieces of manufacturing for things like our submarines as well as all of our other defense is important for us to bring home as well as the rest of the manufacturing. So thank you from AmSkills for recognizing what we're trying to do, the training we're doing to more than 25 homeschool students, more than 200 individuals across and our 64th higher. So thank
you so much for this in um investment in us and thank you for recognizing Recognizing what we do.
