Um I came today to talk about an article that was in the uh local newspaper about will Pasco get Enforcement cameras in school speed zones. Commissioner Starkey brought this up at the February 6th meeting. She noted that the state legislature has authorized the use of cameras in school speed zones. Uh the cameras uh technology will certainly uh help those that are speeding. Coming over here today, three cars past me in our fifteen mile an hour speed zone. One almost hit me and the car on my left had to veer out of the way. So that they would not get hit. Thankfully there were no children in the road. Uh we have been talking about this for a very long time. I spoke to a Pasco Sheriff's Deputy last

Um I imagine you remember speaking to me about a year ago when you were coming to visit our community, which never happened. Uh ongoing problem in our community in [address removed]. Um and I spoke to Kirk Browning's office today because I wanted to check to see if our county uh was doing some of the things that were being done in other counties of the state. Uh putting cameras on the sides of school buses to see those that pass when the flag is up, uh, putting that model. monitoring systems at the crosswalks to show when people are speeding. The last two months of the school year I witnessed 12 people on County Line Road going through when the red flag was up and children were getting off their buses. Christine Hankerson month who said the only way to get rid of these speeders, and we've had another death on County Line Road from speeding. is to ticket these people. And they say they don't have enough money to patrol during our school zone times. So Uh Commissioner Mariano in this article mentioned that I tell you these lead light cameras in Port Ritchie and New Port Ritchie, they were supposed to get rid of them a few years ago. And they're making too much money and they're not going to make that move. I don't know any parent or citizen or grandparent that puts a dollar amount on children. Uh he voiced concerns uh that if the revenue becomes too attractive The county might become reluctant to pull the cameras, whether or not they're effective. Last time I was here, I already told you two children were hit in the school zone where the crossing guard was

Christine Hankerson And um so I was hoping that our county would be as progressive as other counties in the state to prevent our children from getting runovers, speeding uh through schools repeatedly, and also uh it was reported on Channel 8 News that in some communities over 600 Cars have gone by when the school bus has their flank up. So if any of you have children, pray every day that they make it home. Because the drivers that we have, we've even seen a police car speed, not going anywhere. I called the sheriff's office and they said they would talk to that squad car about speeding and a third. before the came out. You had told me, Commissioner, that County has given a lot of money to the Sheriff's Department. And we pay as our CDBs extra money to have off-duty policemen monitor our road. And just the last thing I want to say. The other day I saw a gentleman in a wheelchair, double entity. He looked like probably a vet. He gone into the crosswalk and nobody would stop for him. in the crosswalk. So I went out to the end of the street and put my arm up. Are you kidding me? You

Christine Hankerson yesterday, uh not yesterday, last week, um when school was in session, somebody went through and it flashed over 40 miles an hour and the yellow light was on, which is a fifteen mile an hour school zone. Um I have witnessed uh Couple of kids almost being hit when they were in the crosswalk. The state put up those nice red flashing lights. Child was in, crossed one part of the road, went into the next one, and he had to jump back with his bike because two cars went around him with the resploshi bike. We had two cars hit at the intermediate school on Mandel. last year. Thankfully they weren't killed. Although we know in Western Chapel that there's been a child killed with his bike in one of those crosswalks, a hit and gun. So when I called Kurt Browning's office they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about about

Oakley Parkway from going too fast. I prefer not to walk or even stand near Marine Parkway for fear of getting run over. My grandchildren are not allowed in our front yard for fear of speeding cards or losing control. Many of my neighbors feel the same. Even though there are signs suggesting a slower speed, drivers routinely travel more than the posted 30 miles per hour. We can't change the structure of the road with its many curves and lack of the road. of sidewalks, but we can make our communities safer by lowering the speed limit and enforcing it. Deborah Cox. I have now lived in the woodlands for almost two years and have experienced multiple close calls with speeding drivers almost hitting me, members of my family, our pets while on a on walks in our neighborhood, slower vehicles. Anthony Wolford the most recent case, uh he ignored the evidence and found me guilty, even going so far as to charge me an additional hundred dollars for exercising my constitutional right of questioning my accuser free of charge. The issue with the cameras are going beyond personal experience. However, the facts are clear, the cameras are operating without valid permits. The expired uh the permits expired was denied er the permit extensions were denied September sixteenth. And despite replying yesterday and reapplying yesterday, Monday, October twenty Twenty five. The operators have Done nothing to update cameras and signage by F DOT standards. In fact, I have photograph evidence that demonstrates the camera's noncompliance. which was provided to me by James Meyer, the F DOT permit signer. This evidence shows the cameras are not operating with the required standard and yet they continue to issue citations to our citizens.

And um We also were told by one of our homeowners and one of our communities that there is a drug house. in our neighborhood and they're selling drugs out of their garage.
