Confirm Chuck Lane as community development director
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.
The source document

What was said
Machine transcription of 4m of recording, with speaker names inferred from voice matching. 100% of 17 lines carry a name. It shows what was said, not what was decided, and both the words and the names can be wrong.
Okay, I guess we are on uh to uh commissioner items then. 28 uh 28, you got one more?
Oh another
another
confirmation Good morning, Kathy Pearson, Assistant County Administrator of Public Services. Before I introduce Mr. Chuck Lane, I just want to publicly thank Marcy Esper. For our current community development director in the many years, and her team has done some amazing projects throughout this county. And as you all know, she's moving on to move with the team that's gonna be doing the new community development DR program under county administration. So Marcy,
thank you. Um, I'm pleased to announce that we have a fellow Bostonian too. Just wanted to let you know that was part of his uh agreement. So Mr. Chuck Lane or Charles Lane, he is currently working for Pasco County. He was the project manager under Public Works, and prior to that Him and Denise were number one and two in the city of Clearwater for eight years. So Denise being the director and Chuck being the assistant director. So I think we hit the gold mine between
the two of them because I think they're gonna bring some fantastic ideas and I couldn't be more excited about having them both join Pasco County. And with that, I'll let Chuck say a few words. And hopefully with due respect that we will respectfully ask you to confirm him.
Uh thank you, Kathy. Uh I'd like to congratulate you on a great hiring of my good friend Denise Sanderson. She will be fantastic. Um And I'd also like to extend my congratulations to Marcy. She's done a great job in this organization. She's built a great team. I've met the whole team. I'm looking forward to working with them. I understand community development and housing issues very well. I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves working with that team and bring some uh some help to our Pasco County residents. Happy to take any questions you might have for me.
Um I don't know if you noticed Swift Mud in his resume there. What uh since we have some former governing board members and I was on the PA Basin Board, um what was your experience at Swift Mud? I worked for Fritz Musselman
uh in the Land Resources Department. Yeah. Eric Sutton. I remember you very well, Mr. Oakley.
I remember Fritz and Eric. Well, we're very excited that you are joining us also. What a great resume that you have as well. I think these are two really good hires for the county. I echo what you've all said about Marcy. Um, but thankfully we haven't lost Marcy. She's just gonna have another uh exciting challenge for the next few years. So um uh good job, County Administrator, on some great hires and
amazing work.
So and I would uh entertain some motions.
Well uh I would say Uh check that Uh you were very right when you said Marcy had done a great job for the county and she has. And With that I mean uh looking forward to what you're gonna do for us. We're It's hard to improve when when you got the best you're replacing, but we look for you to improve that. So but very proud that you're here with us and uh make the motion that we accept you in this position. Thank you, sir.
Okay. I need a second.
I'll second it.
All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Okay, welcome.
All right, so we will do R twenty nine um in the afternoon. And we will move on to commissioner items with Commissioner Oakley.
