What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

All right, we'll go to uh resolutions, Madam Clerk. Um These are all pretty much all time certain. I guess we'll go to R S two. Yep. And Mr. Chairman?
Yes. After you do R S two, I do have everyone here from R S three. If we could do that right away, that'd be great. Oh, they're here for R S three? Yeah, so we can you can do R S two and then
that if you could. Okay. We'll do that first, R S three.
All right. Would um Senator Mike Fizzano please step to the podium?
He's always early. early.
Good morning. I'm gonna go ahead and read the resolution. Resolution number 24-059, a resolution by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, recognizing Mike Fasano for receiving the 2023 National Animal Care and Control Association's Bill Lehman Memorial Award. Whereas each year the National Animal Care and Control Association NACA I recognizes an outstanding individual, not directly employed in the animal care and control field, who has shown exceptional awareness and support of animal
control and care-related matters. And whereas NACA has selected Pasco County tax collector Mike Fasano as our 2023 recipient of the Bill Lehman Memorial Award for his hard work and compassion in animal welfare, both in the state of Florida and in Pasco. And whereas in two thousand twelve as a Florida S state senator. Mike Pasano drafted legislation to provide protections for pets by creating a statewide animal abuser registry. Senator Fasano titled Senate Bill
618 as Dexter's Law, and even though the bill did not pass, it provided the groundwork for the future passage of many local animal abuser registries throughout the state, including the one passed unanimously by the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners in 2017. In 2018, Mike Fasano endorsed a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution to ban dog racing. In the state of Florida. On November 6, 2018, Florida voters passed the amendment with a 69% majority. And whereas Mike Fizzano continues
to be a strong supporter of animal welfare in Pasco County. As the Pasco County Tax Collector, all of Mike Fasano's tax collectors offices routinely highlight the Pasco County Administrator Pet of the Week on their lobby televisions and share the PAS PCAS shelter content on social media platforms, all of which have resulted in adoptions and helped spread public awareness of shelter and animal welfare initiatives. And
whereas in twenty eighteen and twenty twenty three, the Pasco County Tax Collectors Office held fundraisers for Friends of Animal Services, with both fundraisers raising Over eleven thousand dollars to support the nonprofit. This funding helped PCAS purchased new medical equipment and created a medical fund to help citizens with one-time emergency medical care for their pets. And whereas Mike Fasano exemplifies the spirit of Bill Lehman in his continual promotion and support of animal welfare organizations, his generosity
in supporting nonprofit rescues and animal friend groups, and his influence in legislative efforts to improve state law and local ordinances to protect animals. Now therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Pasco County, Florida, that said board hereby commends Mike Fizzano as the recipient of the twenty twenty-three National Animal Care and Control Association's Bill Lehman Memorial Award for his support in animal welfare. Dunner resolved in regular session with a quorum present and voting this twenty-third day of January 2024.
