R-2 resolution recognizing HCA Bayonet Point Hospital
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Thank you. My name is Sally Seymour and I am so proud to be the CEO CEO. Would you like to say something before I start? Okay. So proud to be the CEO of Bayonet Point Hospital and really honored to be here today. I want to thank our county commissioners and all of our county officials for this incredible recognition and for acknowledging the tireless work that our caregivers do each and every day. I want to introduce some of the folks I have with me today. Uh Dr. Christine Bihan. Our board chair who has been serving this uh this community for 30 years now. Um we also
have Heather Fiorentino who wasn't able to join us today. She is our vice chair. Dr. Rami Aquell is our chief of staff, and Dr. Jose Pascual is our vice chief of staff. They're both back at the hospital treating patients right now. But without their leadership and dedication, we could not continue to do what we do and continue to grow and evolve and and meet the ever-changing needs of our rapidly growing community. I also want to introduce Will Constantine, our assistant chief nursing officer, who recently joined our organization. Healthcare is truly a calling, and
I am so honored to go to work every day with hundreds of caregivers who dedicate their lives to caring for other people. These heroes spend days, nights, weekends, holidays, hurricanes away from their families and their loved ones, putting the needs of others first and caring for our family and our loved ones. I have two of those incredible heroes with here with us today that I would like to accept this on behalf of Bayonet Point. I want to introduce Jessica Leonard and Lindsay Longstreet Longstreet, two
of our incredible nurses that are on the front lines caring for this community every single day. We are so honored and thank you so much for this acknowledgement.
I think uh I
think we have someone who w may want to say something.
Good morning, Commissioner. Kathy Pearson, Assistant County Administrator for Public Services. I personally know how important this hospital is. Last August, my 38-year-old son, father of two beautiful little girls, daughter-in-law that was pregnant about five and a half months. My son was airlifted on an incident uncontrolled by him. to Bayonet, near his trauma center. Folks, he was two hours from dying. two
hours from dying, and this hospital saved his life. uh the the doctors, Dr. Solomon, Dr. Brown, the nurses, the incredible, incredible team. that saved his life. And no, there was a hurricane there in that time too. And so my daughter in law who was pregnant five and a half months They off made arrangements for her to stay there twenty four seven. Twenty four seven they made arrangements for her to be by her husband. I was home taking
care of the three and the five year old. I'm proud to say my son got to witness the birth of his third daughter on December 10th because of these wonderful people behind us. I don't care what anybody says, this is one of the best hospitals, the most caring. And I was telling Sally the only complaint my daughter-in-law had was, boy, I wish they had a little bit bigger cafeteria. That was her only complaint. So I am blessed beyond. Um 2023, I am glad it's gone and I am so
thankful that we are acknowledging this hospital and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Commissioner, thank you for sponsoring this. We really appreciate it. So with that.

Uh I was very proud many years ago when you b wanted to become a uh a trauma center the first time and went down to Tampa to testify and uh get your support to try to make it happen and proud it's happened and you've elevated from there. But uh I want to say all the hardworking doctors, nurses, um All the all your volunteers, the the volunteer stuff they have is
