General public comment from Charles Carey on road maintenance

1:54All right, thank you very much. So this is our time for public comment on things that are not uh Not necessarily on our agenda for today. Uh citizens are given an opportunity to comment on items listed. uh on the agenda and participated by WebEx. Do we have anybody on WebEx today?

2:18We don't have anybody signed up for WebEx today for the items.

2:21So is any anybody here to comment on something that is not on today's agenda?

3:48Okay, and you've been sworn,

3:50right? Mr. Gary? Uh yeah, I'm a little uh concerned about the development and And what I want to bring up is there's a main big issue in this county on road maintenance. I had several requests to please put some asphalt down on the new leaves, dull culvert, just in like all the road. Just not the only road in question, where the asphalt has sunk a little bit after installed the culvert about four or five months ago.

4:15I put this in and I called today and said, What is the planning stage? This planning stages, there was some asphalt down, were slightly dipping and getting a little worse and worse and let go of the road. I think this is awful. The county cannot properly maintain this road. You got to slow down the rezoning, slow down the density until we can get the roads. You see the roads and St. Joe Road, there's a lot of cracks in there that was repaved in 99. And the top layer is starting to crack in a

4:45lot of places and a lot of potholes had to be filled. When you consider this, we need to do something with the roads or any infrastructure in this county to accommodate this growth, that's what I wanted to say.

4:57Okay. And I think let me just clarify, Mr. Carey, we are the planning commission but w the w we don't plan the roads. That's right. No worries. But we're w happy to listen to your concerns. And we'll help try to help get you some direction on who can solve the problem if they're solved.

5:17Right, right. So uh

5:19kind of commissioner.

5:20Yeah. Did you uh speak to somebody at the county level?

5:23Oh yes. Okay. Mr. Oakley's office, High School County Engineer spoke to me only because my brother used to To be a pastor cutting engineer and knows him, and that's the only that's the connection, but that connection is not helping me out. I've talked to Mr. Oakley's A. She's talked talked to somebody, but never hear back from her. I've talked to Ms. Oakley's and I'll hear back from him, so I've tried and tried.

5:50Okay. Well, um, does it does it we have anybody uh online that and uh get in touch with Mr. Carey and try to help him out.

6:04So this sounds like something for our public works department. Um I mean i everybody that you spoke to doesn't really have direct supervision over the maintenance of roads. Um That would be public works. I believe Jason Mickels, the head of public works. Have you spoken to him?

6:25No, I I did uh a commission meeting and talked to him. This he was duty appointed at the time and I didn't hear back then but I heard back from uh this engineer happened to be a friend of my brother's who's a former engineer and uh and they did something at that point this is another issue. So they they did well that was another issue on Lake. They had to reconstruct the cover, re-line it.

6:52Okay. Yeah, I'm just saying all of these issues you're mentioning, except for the rezoning part, um all fall within our Department of Public Works. So you need to get a hold of somebody in that department. Um

7:19You know, we can't totally stop for growth to understand that.
