Financial reports and incoming senior introduction

1:06:56Yes, sir. Um I do. I have uh three items. Uh one I would like to introduce to my right, Gianna Celeste. She is an incoming senior for next school year. And um we met last week at Girls State. Um my first time actually attending Girls State, and it was a lot of fun. That's where we met, and Gianna um approached me and asked if she could shadow, and I thought It would be great for her to experience one of our days here. And she also attended the county strategic

1:07:26planning session for libraries yesterday and offered some really great insight on how to connect with the younger generation. And I think she enjoyed that, that that part of our day yesterday. Uh she is um a smart and bright young lady. She's g we our future is bright in her hands, I feel. She is um in ROTC at school. She is second in command of her battalion. She wants to go to West Point once she graduates and she wants to be an officer in the army. But

1:07:56I I was I was finding that th there was probably some you know you can try other branches. Yes, I was just gonna say that. My daughter went to the Air Force Academy. Yes And um her ultimate goal um is to end up working in uh the CIA. So yes, right? So really great things, but I just wanted to welcome her here and I'm I'm grateful that she's here and to see us uh at at work.

1:08:22You should give her some practice with with your ROT experience when you go to the CIA this afternoon there'll be a lot more people who can join the deputies in the back that might be able to use some extra help this afternoon.

1:08:45The other item I wanted to talk about, I gave these handouts to you, so you probably were wondering where I don't have as much space at my dais, right? Um, first is the the ACFER. This is the annual comprehensive financial report. Um, this is for the fiscal year that ended in 2020. It has a ton of great financial information in here. This is what we are audited on annually by the auditing firm CRI. So we have great information

1:09:15in here. We have submitted it to the Government Finance Officers Association to again hopefully get their award of excellence for more than three decades, you know, in a row. And then in addition to that, we have called the PAFER, the popular Annual financial report. It is a beautiful version. It's supposed to be utilized for the for our community to be able to

1:09:45understand what the county's finances are, what our investments are, what is our debt. It's an excellent book. I want to tell you that it's a great tool if you are talking to our Community, and you want to talk to them about finances to refer to this, it's it's a really great item to do that and help understand and bridge that gap with how i complex our finances are and what we do in our county. I just want to say the cover photos, um, they're a little different on each. They

1:10:15are our unsung heroes of the county and as well as my office, those that That worked during the height of the pandemic to provide those essential services. And this is our our team members in action. So we wanted to honor them with the cover for what we dealt with during that fiscal year. So those are there. And also the PAFR, which we have coined Common Sense, Chaching with the S, is available as well as the ACFER. On my website

Okay, so the last thing I wanted to mention was um During the last board meeting, the board had authorized a meeting with the county attorney, the county administrator, myself, and my legal counsel in regards to the legal requirements for my budget requests. I just wanted to personally say thank you for the opportunity to do that. We did meet last week on Thursday, and Mr. Breitenbach was

1:11:16there for Mr. Biles, I felt that it was a really good conversation. We um we exchanged information with the legal requirements and I'm looking forward to finding out the result of that. Um in the letter um that I had sent last week after the meeting, I did request that if at all possible if we could know the um what the proposed budget is going to be from the county administrator, um it is going to be submitted for the July sixth meeting and the day before that is a holiday

1:11:46so if it's possible to get that information probably by the end of this month would be great which is just uh that Wednesday before the meeting um if I could know what that is I'd appreciate that.
