C-25 Zephyrhills flood relief project

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Okay. Uh reason I pull this was the fact that with all the floods and all we've had over the last, you know, this last couple years, so Um We had a lot of water in the Zephyrhills area and this project here is actually one of the first projects we're gonna start to relieve the water going south out of Zephyrhills and it will because of this new ditch and all they're gonna put there, it'll move quicker out than it than it would before. And this

area's always been as far back as when I was with uh Swift Mud, uh, we looked at that area many times and had it cleaned out. because it seems to gather a lot of trash now and slow down the water leaving Zephyrhills. So we're helping, that's the start start of helping relieve the flood waters from inside Zephyrhills in their local area.

Mariano

Well remember Commissioner Oakley when you were first running for office you were uh not only on your side taking a look at it, but you were t watching our side very closely with the flooding. So this is an exciting project to come forward. Um I know you've worked hard and I think you've known all all our board members were actually over there supporting you. Um when the governor came in, we had the all the flooding going on out there. But yeah. Between that and the four res project, uh I think we're moving the right direction. So it is it is a great item. So

Oakley

This is a start. It's not a not a fix for everything, but it is a start to the program. So

Mariano

yeah. All right. Do we have a motion for approval? Move approval. Second. All in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed? Okay. Mr. Starkey, C thirty-one.

Starkey

Um so I wanted to bring this to your attention. I never heard of this, the employment opportunity compliance service. It's not a lot of money, but to me this is like another like Davis Bacon. So could someone please explain why we have to do this? And is this another federal issue I need to be bringing up at FAC and NACO?
