Public comment on Land O' Lakes and coastal restoration
What the county recorded
This item is not from the published agenda
It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Thank you, sir. Ladies and gentlemen, now is the time for public comment. Citizens are given an opportunity to comment on any item coming before the board. During this public comment section. Board also takes takes public comment on items to be placed on the future board agenda or other business under purview. Due to COVID 19 operations. And to safeguard the well-being and safety of our citizens and staff, today's public comment will be handled differently. First, we will take public comment from those that have pre-registered for a WebEx link. And are currently on Q after. That we will read into the record public comments, documents, PowerPoints,
or videos that have been identified by members of the public to be read out loud. Played at the meeting are received and filed. Finally, we will take public comment from those currently signed up at the kiosk station. Comments are not to exceed three minutes. This new format does not waive the request that when you address the board, comments are not directed personally against any commissioner or team member, but rather directed at the issues. This provides mutual respect between the board members and the public. For WebEx and kiosk participants, after stating your name and address for the clerk, the time will be activated. We will start a countdown after two minutes one people sound,
letting you know that one only one minute only one minute remains. At the time is up, two beeps will sound indicating the three minutes are up and you should close your comments at that time. WebEx participants will be disconnected when their time is up, and kiosk participants will be asked to move away from the kiosk. Mr. Clerk, do we have anyone pre-registered to speak or any emails t to read into the record?
Uh yes sir, we do. We have um although I'm not sure if he's wanting to speak to the ordinance or to in general uh Mr. Rob Park.
Is that via WebEx? That is via WebEx.
Mr. Park, are you there please? I am here. Do you wish to speak to the Commission in general or to the specific ordinance?
Uh it's to the specific ordinance, but there is some generalization to it.
Okay, just name and address for the record, please. Your name and address for the record please?
Rob Park, [address removed]. Good morning. It's good to see everyone is all safe. Ask me. Coordinates nineteen twenty be in force and that it specifically states section three if any of the attendants are in the Dependent. There is one. More traffic on air and cutoff than stated, and the Collier Parkway extension does not exist. There is no permit for changing the existing land use where a proposed roadway may
or may not be built. Over the past several weeks, truckload after truckload of filder has been brought on the project. There is not any mention in the application of the elevation having to be raised. If the land did not have the elevation to build on, how is it that the rezoning was approved? A whole A couple of miles north on US forty one and the dirt was moved to this project. Why the project just get built there?
Seth moving the one.
It's Land O' Lakes, emphasis on lakes. It is irresponsible. Well to fill in lake beds, dry or not. This area is a source of water for the city of Saint Petersburg.
Choke off the natural replenishing of the aquifer. The infrastructure being put in place appears that stormwater is going to be drained off of pipelines Somewhere nature mother mother nature did not design. Speaking of infrastructure, it would be a good opportunity for this board to take a field trip to the project and make note of infrastructure going in before building. Take along staff recommends. Until something can be done about the infrastructure in Land O' Lakes, an immediate and long-term moratorium
on rezoning should be put in place for Land O' Lakes in nearby areas. Land O' Lakes is just being used as a throughway. I get shaken awake between five and five thirty AM, Monday through Saturday, when the semi trucks start barreling through, and it goes on until on some nights after eight DM. You can hear the trucks approaching from at least a mile away. This is a flat area and sound travels. There is far more traffic than indicated on the ordinance exhibits. The comprehensive
plan has this area as acreage lots. The comprehensive plan discourages the use of collector roads to carry traffic between arterial roads. 99.9% of the traffic on Aaron cutoff is just that. Traffic using air and cut off. Shortcut. It is far too late to stop the project development at this stage. No doubt the developer would still. The alternative is to reduce the traffic on air and cutoff. The most cost effective solution is to erect signs at
each end of errand cutoff, no through traffic.
Name it out just for the record, please.
Uh Carl Roth, [address removed]. Uh I did not intend to speak today, but I am interested in particularly uh item one on the regular agenda having to do with coastal restoration. I wanted to let the Commission know that uh I am with the Port Richey Port Authority Board of County Commissioners. And uh we are tasked by the city council to conduct a review of our existing F D and Army Corps of
Engineer permit and we are also currently looking at uh the ability to potentially do restoration in the area. Yeah. Uh the estuary. So I just want to make you aware and I'm interested in that agenda item. Thank you very much and appreciate your time.
Thank you, sir. Mr. Clerk, has anybody else signed up via WebEx?
We have one other person signed up, although we do not see them in queue, Mr. Randy Herbiton. Mr. Herverton.
Um being told he is not in queue at this time, sir. That is the last of the pre-registered and we have no emails.
No emails. Do we have anybody on the kiosk that would like to speak to the board at this time? Anybody on the kiosk? If we
could uh
kiosk.
