Apartment complex site plan and townhomes

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Okay, I remembered what I had. And I sent it to Derek.

Derek, do you have that email? It's the second picture. It's the site plan for the apartment thanks, David. Um the site plan for the apartment complex. And this is something that's on our agenda this afternoon. Um but it it just And I don't know that this site plan is binding. Um I never remember how all that works, but uh

It's it goes to my concern that we keep approving apartment complexes that have no context to anything around it. And Um and so here you have An apartment complex. And then the back is front loaded Town homes, which I've shown you pictures of front load townhomes are not my favorite. I and I also Um personally think eight I'm I'm beginning to think eight townhomes

in a block. shouldn't be what we're doing either. I think we should be Maybe capping that at six, but But But here you know. I don't know. I just I get I get frustrated that we have these little self enclosed communities. I think there's almost six hundred units here. Um I just th I don't know I I'm not the planner. But If we're trying to make walkable

You know This is the challenge when you're a county and not a city, 'cause I don't think a city would ever allow this.

OakleyChair

Is this an item we have Safernoon?

Starkey

Yeah. It's a

Mike Carballa

potential continuance, just so you know. But that's what it is? Yes. Okay.

Starkey

Oh

I

thought it's on consent is what the applicant told me.

Mike Carballa

Correct, but we've since had some conversations. It's a potential continuance at this point in time. All right.

Starkey

And so I really look to our planners and You know

What do we want to look like? And how do we what kind of field do we want for our community? And it and that it's it's just such a challenge for us as a a county without any cities. um to develop love.

And I don't know what the answer is, but I just feel I just I'm just not a fan of this this kind of growth.

Mariano

Uh Mr. Chairman? Yes, sir. Yeah, I now was gonna I actually had requested and talked to the applicants representative that I wanted to pull it for today. And then we talked more about even continuance because frankly pilot country to me is a great asset. Um we need to try to help that airport. The pr air zone airport runway protection zone we did protects the area there. But to me we should be looking at even trying to work to make sure if they need to expand we can work with them to go do that too. I think they're working on something

right now to do that. As far as all the density goes, I think the townhomes I'm I'm comfortable with those. I think if we can improve them that'd be great. Uh construction with all those apartments with all the traffic going down at fifty-two is something that needs to be looked at real close. Yeah.

So Chairman M if I may, this is You need to have this discussion during the hearing for this. I sorta let Commissioner Starkey do her thing because she was doing a philosophical

weeds on this site plan. I'm a little uncomfortable. So

Starkey

so can I I want to say one thing philosophically too on this and bring it up again. You see that uh uh when we have connectivity to the north and to the south, which I think is important. Um

We need to respect those roads that are connecting more than we do. And um I So I look forward to some time somewhere in the not too distant ver future Maybe workshopping. these kind of issues.

OakleyChair

Okay. Let's hold off on talking about that item until this afternoon. We had a resolution this morning that was Council, but banned. And well Mr.
