Tallahassee trip, Sun Coast overpasses, resource guide

1:54:27Thank you so much. Okay. It's to uh me. So first I would say um thank you to all the uh board members for going up to Tallahassee. I I don't recall if all five of us went last year, But um I don't think so. I think it's been a while since we had all five.

Um So um just thank you all for taking the time and I thought it was a very successful trip and to our staff that also went um And I do want to thank our legislators for meeting with us. I thought we had a great meeting with Wilton. And um it I I feel confident that all of our asks are are are gonna that we're gonna be successful this year. And um And then we had uh a conversation I'll just let the other staff know with

1:55:14Wilton about uh maybe um searching for some funds. for um help with the overpasses on the Sun Coast. When they designed the Sun Coast, they didn't have um that trail in mind. This is what I was told. And so um They they didn't anticipate that so it wasn't built in i and and planned in our area and so we're We The citizens of Pasco County are ending up right now funding our pedestrian overpasses of fifty four and fifty

1:55:44two. But Hernando has one that's funded by the turnpike authority, Citrus. If you drove up the Sun Coast like I did, they have a beautiful one. Coming across so Um I think uh Senator Simpson said he was gonna be helping us and we we have a plan that we're gonna push forward this year to hopefully alleviate that cost to our citizens and be able to move that that money to other projects. So I'm really excited about that. Um Uh um we started talking about the subject, so I'm gonna pass these out to you

1:56:15guys. I thought I These are again, um and thank you, Johanna, for all your work on this. This is the newest and greatest. What are we calling it? I don't have a copy. The um Oh thank you. So the Pasco County Social Services Resource Guide. This is one that my staff just printed. Joanna, we're out to uh Out to a printer yet for these? Okay. And and uh Fasano does printing for us for s Well that's just printing for us, great. So I c I can tell you

1:56:45that I had the uglier White ones in my car. Um And I have handed these to people and at least four or five of them have received services from the county. Homeless people. Last week uh I was in the the Home Depot in in holiday. And there was a a young man and a girl and his girlfriend asking the clerk there Where he could buy a tent because he and his family They were gonna go move into Starkey Wilderness Park 'cause

1:57:15he had lost his His lost his place to live. He ha he had a job. He kept telling me, I have a job, I have a job, I just can't afford my rent. So we're moving into the park and I said, Wait a minute, wait a minute. We have resources. And um and th the girlfriend had actually gone online and tried to find something but couldn't. She said it it said online and I don't know where she went that we don't have any money. But in fact we have money, it's just we don't have places to put people. It's And so I I I'm very happy with Marcy's

1:57:46project. But

1:57:49I would love for you when this is done to get the PDFs of this, to carry these in your car. When you go to speak to different associations or groups or rotaries.

1:58:01When you see people handing money at an intersection, you're just perpetuating that problem. But if you hand them something like this, they actually have a solution. And I I really think we can help a lot of people when we give knowledge to them that they can they can call and we can help them. And frankly, um the ones who don't want help I don't think they should be Pasco residents. That's my view on that. Um Uh you heard uh this morning a little bit about the German consulate general.

1:58:32And if you don't know what the consul consulate general is, that is the um diplomatic representative from the uh country of Germany. Who's in charge of Florida? And yeah, he lives in Miami but he's come up here a few times. I cannot remember his name right now. But um he w we have extended to him an invitation. So he will be at our board meeting in February. And so it it's at that time that I'll talk a little bit more about the trip 'cause I didn't want to do it twice. And um so we'll have a little discussion,
