Commissioner Fitzpatrick report on community events and towing rates

We collected over 4,000 items for Sun Coast Voices. Sun Coast Voices provide services and items to keep children with their families or assist the foster families in care.

2:10:50I'd also like to welcome Hottenham Village and to thank St. Vincent at all for creating a four-volt permanent housing for Pasco County Residence with Rap around here. I was also able to attend Baymar Solutions. And Bay County. Um Solutions can better assist the medical community with improved technologies right here in Pasco County. So it's great to have additional businesses coming.

2:11:21um up through statistic investigation station um for coming together with many other community members raising funds. I remember back in 2018 going out and participating at the events. So I'm really proud and excited to announce the new Splash Pack at Betsy Memorial Park. I would really like to see more splash cats around Pasco County to create more positive activities, work children and parents to engage in and create loving

2:11:51memories and strengthening their family bonds. I like to thank Law Enforcement and Veterans for their service in remembrance of May in honor of Peace Officers Day and of course Memorial Day. That just has May 15th is also Learns to Swim Day, and I strongly urge every child to learn how to swim. Reality is one of the leading causes of death in children under the age of five in Florida. Um lastly, I would like to make a motion. I

And Scott, Scotty, um but Regarding towing, and I'll like to make a motion to have the county attorney prepare a resolution amending the resolution 07-169 on the maximum rates for non-consensual towing to increase the following rates to $150 for the connection

2:12:52fee and $6 per mile and to remove the consumer price index index.

2:12:59So Mr. Chair, can I respond? Yes. Um we can certainly amend the resolution, but there's thirty-one different fees in that resolution, and Commissioner Fitzpatrick mentioned two of them. So I'm not clear whether you only want us to amend just those two or did you want staff to look at making the rates all of the fees competitive With surrounding jurisdictions. The reason I say that is because if you raise the the base rate for class A to

2:13:30hundred and fifty, well there's also a rate for class B which already is a hundred and fifty, and there's a rate for class C which is two fifty. And so I'm not uh I'm not clear

2:13:42What you want us to do with uh what what you want us to do with the other twenty nine fees that are in the schedule?

2:15:26So again, we don't have an issue with raising them, but even Commissioner Moore's motion only deals with the class A fees doesn't deal with what do you want us to do with about class B and class C. I mean it may be just

2:15:56I think even he would probably recommend that you just have staff look at re redoing all of the rates to be competitive with surrounding jurisdictions rather than just pick my my concern is if you just pick one or two then it's gonna make the other ones kind of out of whack with the few that you changed. So I think it would be easier if you just directed staff to come back with a revised rates that are that are competitive with surrounding jurisdictions.
