Commissioner Moore tourism occupancy report

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

I've gotta be quick. I just just want to go over um some numbers from tourism real quick. Um We looked at comparisons of occupancy rates for January through June of 21. Uh Pasco County's occupancy rate was higher than both Hillsboro and Pinellas Counties and over the state of Florida's occupancy rate for that time period. So congratulations again to uh the DMO team. Uh Pasco's occupancy rate from January through June was 76.4 percent. Hillsboro's was 64.1%.

I know pretty incredible, right? Penellas was seventy-three point seven. Uh state of Florida's average was sixty-five point three. So again, great job to our DMO. And let's be honest, we know why those numbers are why they are. Because Of the changes we've made as a team. With along with our DMO when it comes to being Florida Sports Coast, all the tournaments that came in during that time across the county. That's what generated the rum nights. That's what brought us over the edge. So just wanted to put those numbers out for you guys and uh that's all

I got.
