I know you guys are hearing and talking and living living it probably all day every day uh but uh I'm confident that that uh your work uh in and getting that that fire under

4:00:16control um is is seen and and our heartfelt gratitude to you all everybody was safe nobody nobody I hurt you know residents and and and your team uh everybody it was a a a successful a successful mission as it could be so so thank you all for your dedication and uh it was it It was somewhat timely with the opening. Chair Mariano and I were there, the opening of Station 2. Congratulations to everybody who's living and working in Station 2 on 54.

4:00:47Very excited to see that firehouse open. Looks great. Gym is awesome. Kitchen's fantastic. um and uh lastly want to thank uh everybody for their support on our safe routes to schools and the school district and our federal partners and our state partners and and the voters for the penny we uh had a uh a groundbreaking uh for the pine view middle and sidewalk Middle and elementary school sidewalk projects last week and had some

4:01:17nice press coverage on it to show that hey we're moving forward, it's the most dangerous route to school, those two schools, and we have roughly three miles of sidewalks that are going to be on the way getting built. The second most dangerous routes the schools were off Curley and Wells at the Wesley Chapel uh School District Plaza there. And the next one is uh Shady Hills. And I understand that we're moving forward, even though we didn't receive our appropriation, but moving forward with penny money to help the schools on Shady Hills. And so

4:01:47very proud of the team effort. and the the unified front on on our safe routes to schools for our kids and families. So uh great work by everybody and and everybody who who cares about that issue as much as I do. So thank you, Chair.

4:02:15back. Uh I'm looking at the Oh oh, all right. Um Okay, so I I don't have my sheet with me. It's there at my desk, but I went up and toured a a school in your district, Commissioner Mariano. Um It's called I think Hope. Ranch or it's a it's a school for special needs started by a bunch of parents. Started in elementary school, then went on to middle school, then high school, and now they have a workforce training program, which is what I visited

4:02:45there for um you know uh young adults on They're employed mostly in Hillsborough uh Hernando County, uh, but it's some in P Pasco County, with uh Oak Hill Hospital, the Hernando Sheriff's Office. um some other government agencies and uh just an amazing program and um won't the east side what yeah the east side and I encourage everyone to go and tour the this facility. On the way back from

4:03:16that I stopped in at Uh the Vincent House. And um I had been there for the opening of the clubhouse, but I hadn't been able to see the new haul. Another great workforce training program for people with special needs. And uh And that the the squash that you see there was grown They're so very cool. Um And uh This is another unique

4:03:46program. I'm probably going to feature both of those programs on national call on workforce training on my committee for C. Um, then I can't remember what else was on my list. And Uh back to another work that did in Tampa with um the Hillsborough County School District and one of their school board members. And it's It's another workforce training program centered on high school students making

4:04:16sure they all have a plan before they graduate high school. Of what they're gonna do. as far as a job or a cur and they they they have a curriculum that they have all the students to go through. Um, it sounds phenomenal and I'm gonna be helping them bring that here to Pasco County Schools. Um Yvonne Fry is the school board member who's got this program, so Park O'Squirrel County. And uh and

4:04:46then um some companies in school districts great program. And uh I attended the Tri County meeting, um, another great meeting, and uh uh I wanted all the commissioners to be sure that you have on your calendar the special meeting for the FPO mergers that's going to be in Bay City. Um, I think it's on the third, but just please make sure you're there. This is a super important in every

4:05:17county MPO or Whatever it's called in other counties are all having the same meeting on the same day. So it's a big day, big vote. Hey, thank you.

4:05:55consecutively of meeting that day, apparently. Cause I attended the MPO meeting. I know Lisa ended up having to leave, but I I attended the MPO meeting from I so I was and this is where they talked about it. No one else was there. Um how important it is to be an

4:07:00This isn't a TMA. This is a Pasco MPO special meeting. Right. So

4:07:06I I don't know what the rules are. Again, but it's a workshop. We're not voting on it, so it's a workshop

4:07:10or remote. It's fine, but they're gonna need a quorum to vote.

4:07:16No, well to yeah. Again, we're not voting anything, it's a workshop. But as far as the MPO meeting that I know you need to be present for that. Yes. Alright, thank you. Alright, Commissioner Yeager.

4:07:28Okay, well let's see. Can I have my first slide? Okay, so um the area of aging, they uh honored Mike Wells as the outstanding humanitarian award. So that was that was well deserved. I'll go through my stuff quick. Okay, and this is I'd like to recognize some of our rescue personnel who represented the Pasco County, the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series, South Region Classic in Deerfield Beach last week. So that's this group. It was incredibly demanding.

4:07:58They put firefighters through physically and mentally challenging events designed to stimulate the work they perform on the ground. It requires strength, speed, endurance, an extraordinary level of uh preparation. Um while I'm on fire rescue. Um their total calls in the last 30 days was 7,935 calls. Um motor vehicle accidents 276, structure fires 31.

4:08:30and uh special ops calls 153 and obviously a shout out to the over a hundred firefighters who um put the fire out in Wesley Chapel. Um that was just an incredible group effort and we are indebted to them because that was a huge undertaking and No lives lost and the community rallied together to where um they are full with donations. So that just speaks volumes about Pasco

4:09:00County. So Pasco proud on that. And um just one other thing, suggestion to you guys to, you know, we've heard um the good things about the uh plate readers and then we heard some um you know, concerned citizens about the plate readers. Um I'm suggesting that you know, we do a workshop, we think about it, we we talk about it, um, get a presentation so the community can have some input,

4:09:31get involved and Also at that time maybe we can talk about the drones with um You know, Chuck can do a pres or um the the sheriff's office can maybe do a a drone presentation. Um with the I don't know, with you know, just about the contracts to include the A L P Rs and the L PRs for a workshop.

4:09:53So I'll agree. Uh I think we should go even a little more intense with it. I think like we had a bunch of experts that were Pasco residents, great input, uh good input from the Sheriff's Offices as well. I think we set a committee up, I think it was a great recommendation. Let the committee meet maybe one or two times. Put some things together, then schedule a workshop, and we do the workshop. Usually we don't take public input, but I think that one we take the public input on. So that may take a little bit of time to do it, but I think taking our time on this

4:10:23and getting it right is critical. And I think just like the moratorium on depart on data centers was well respected and received by our citizens, I think if we take our time and look. at this and make the right decision, uh I think it's a great way to go. So I'm I'm comfortable giving staff the Flexibility to set the committee committee up. And it can be anybody on the committee wants to go have a h let them have a couple of meetings and then

4:10:46When do you mean just anybody?

4:10:48Well, people that Mike with that spoke today.

4:10:51Okay, like experts along the eastern.

4:10:52Experts on that that yeah.

4:10:55Yeah, there there's no way it's certainly going to be an intense conversation either, you know, for or against them. So you know, we need to be prepared to have, you know, really robust professional dialogue with open minds and um Um, you know, probably some fun spirited debate like we do from time to time. Once in a while. Yeah. Uh so I think a a workshop would be good. And um I know we don't normally incorporate

4:11:26the public into the workshop. But it's probably important whatever the workshop rules are. County Attorney is looking at me sideways.

4:11:39My only reason I was have a little hesitancy is about the committee because when the board I think that's

4:11:45how we we hash out what this committee is only

4:11:49the only hesitants you have is when you create a committee if they're gonna be making a recommendation to you they're gonna be subject to the Sunshine Law. I just want you to understand that. So

4:11:58they have to. I mean we can look at the Doge committees that have been set up around You know those are pretty intense bodies, right? Um So I mean so are are you gonna We don't know yet. There's only three of us here. So

4:12:10So I mean if you're gonna set up a committee like that you're gonna have to Somebody's gonna have to say who's on it and they're gonna have to understand they'd be subject to sunshine when they meet and that kinda

4:12:20What it'd be better to have a task force or something like that. Task force. That's the case. That's a

4:12:23great task force. That's the word I would put up on. Thank

4:12:26you. And I I just wanna say like a as you know, you pick this committee that you know people are in general talking about things Yeah. countrywide, right? But we have to when uh we have to just be on pa we have to be focused on Pasco. Pasco only and has anything happened in Pasco what can happen, people's privacy, data, et cetera. Um I just want to keep the focus to Pasco because people think we have control over the whole country and sadly

4:12:56we only have control over CASCO.

4:12:58Well I think we gotta look at all aspects. I mean Fourth Amendment, etcetera, but I I I'm

4:13:04We we we have to ha think broader because of the the talking of the systems. You know, right? Something happens here and they catch the person in Tennessee, I think that was the example used, right? I I think it'd be good that that we have uh uh public dialogue and understanding of how these systems talk to one another whether it's a the flock system or the what's the other one acts on if those two you know how these

4:13:34systems communicate and work and integrate you know it it's it's a fact and it was stated today that you know technology is outpacing increasing manpower and um uh and it's moving quicker than than any of us can especially in the world of of public safety. You know sheriff said at our workshop that technology is the future of our of our of our police force. and um you know as a governing body especially you know when it comes to

4:14:04to budgets um I certainly uh have great apprehension to tell another constitutional officer though the CEO of their organization on how they should do their job but at the end of the day This body, our number one job is to be the fiduciary of public money and our jobs to ensure that the money that we allocate um to other leaders in this county is being used uh in in in in the best interest of the public. So So, you know, as a fiduciary, if

4:14:34we're you know we're making dollars and cents decisions, uh I think it's important that we uh are confident in our decisions and the money that we allocate to, you know, whether supervisor of elections, clerk of the court, property appraiser. uh Sheriff's Department that we're we're making the the appropriate uh decisions when it comes to the budget for folks. So I'm I think this is a great step in the right direction to add transparent for us to have understanding as a

4:15:04board um to to understand what's going on with these with these systems and technology as a whole.

4:15:11Yeah, that is definitely fast moving. We did all swear to our no, so uh I think all this good. I think that task force is a great way to go and then set for a nice big workshop.

4:15:22And I think the task force needs to be voted on because that's fine. Um and also I I just wanna say that whatever we decide as as a board after we gather all the facts that Pasco County would be the only neighboring county that does not have this technology. Which is the right-of-way. You know, no one got to hear that today, but um I understand all the the concerns with you know data privacy, people safety, things

4:15:53like that. But um

4:15:54We'll make it happen.

4:15:56Yeah, at the end of the day, you know, um we heard the people both sides, and I just want to make sure that, you know, there's knowledge. People, we're not using Google, we're not using AI for our information. We're getting information from From people in the field and these these vendors. So

4:16:14we'll we'll ensure a balanced group.
