But this will be a conversation we would bring it up. at the Moffitt groundbreaking, I will say You know, Mr Moffat, just what what a what an awesome man, what an awesome family he's got, right? And just the passion of of what he's done to bring all this together. I met him only a couple of years ago up in Tallahassee, a few years ago actually. Uh and he was talking about the project. He was talking about CSX with me. And he really wants to see it happen. So he's encouraged us to reach out to our state delegation, our federal delegation, and let's go get these conversations go with CSX, because I think everybody that I've talked to agrees if you get a rail line run the middle of a community, a region, that doesn't have transit, that sits idle for twenty out of twenty four hours a day. And that could provide an opportunity for better transportation. It's something we should be doing. So w they think we should need to get everybody in the room to go talk this through. Mariano I'd like to say, Commissioner, that uh you have been, I think, the most impactful elected official that Pasco County has ever had. Uh and it's not that just resonates how you do great things in just the east side of the county, you do great things in the west side of the county. Your overall thinking benefits the entire state in such a great way that I think is the reason we're the best state to live in. Uh you'll you're Dedication just every step of the way. Uh the honors you get at Moffitt, well well deserved. Loved working with you. Your mentorship with her was phenomenal. Uh getting stuff done with Pay Center for Girls uh meant so much to her. Metropolitan Ministries as well, another one that you helped drive along to help people that needed it. Uh the dedication to the care center was just something so impactful for uh the seniors at L. That need to care. So everything you've done has been for the betterment of all. And your your logic, your wisdom, your smarts, uh has really just been tremendous leadership. And uh Kathy, I hate to say this, but I think there's better things still coming.

Thank you, Madam Chairman M Dan I tell you, I remember very well when we were making the a selection to pick from you, and I know we talked many times about how important the Ridge Road extension was, uh stormwater was a big issue, permitting was a b big issue. And I want to say when you had the opportunity to get Ridge Road done quickly, you took a step back and said, you know what, we're ready to go, but We've got a big development wants to come in here, a big job employer, great opportunity, wouldn't tell me the name at the time, but uh with Moffitt coming in we had to reset the road to give them the cuts they needed to do what they needed to go do. And that was a bold move on your part because it could have been a great success, but you took the step back, we regrouped, we set it up, and went through the whole process. That leadership right there gave me a lot of confidence with you. And like you all, we bought it heads too. But we always discussed it. And what I always liked is I always got the truth. And with the truth you can work with it. And when you know everybody else was being told the same basic things every step of the way and you still

Mariano And Commissioner Starkey, believe me I I think what we've done has been great for improving jobs. I mean we're one of the first countries to actually put money in a in a in a government tax, sales tax, to go get echo economic development. We improved it even this year. Um we've I think made that statement. And in and not so much that money's gonna make the difference it's come or not, but it sets an attitude of like this commission wants jobs here. And everything we talk about I think from D d dust to done is all about how do we bring more jobs to Pasco with the project of Moffitt coming in. That project took a long time to get. We actually delayed Ridge Road about an extra year just to make sure they had the cuts they needed. Uh you know, with Commissioner Simpson helping out with the infrastructure. I mean That is going to make such a huge difference in the area. Um

Um under your rules he's allowed to participate in this meeting, um, based on the unusual circumstances of of him being out of town, um, as long as it's he can see be seen see and be seen. Mariano family homes. That was something we did, board initiated. So it's not like we've left them alone left alone, but not a lot of growth has come there. But there's opportunities now. And with Moffitt right down below, there's some high-end jobs that will be coming in this whole area. So growth is coming. And I think it's good to get industrial land, to get these jobs in there, but at the same time I understand the concerns about bringing in the infrastructure that we need and use whatever sources we can to elevate that up. Mariano Um and I I'll say as far as I think We're we're taking a great step and up and down restoring our canals. From Moffitt, if you come down Ridge Road, it's probably about a fifteen minute drive. How many people do you know that if they're gonna move to Florida, what do they want to do? Go to the beach or do fishing. Go get a boat. We work on these waterways up and down. that access point is coming across real easy for them, that's where they're gonna wanna live. A lot of them. I mean the be the Wesley Chapel demographics it's still real strong and popular. Um The change of what Pasco had gone through. You know, years ago we had all these retirees from the Midwest coming down, et cetera. They settled in. Well, as they've passed on New people have come in. With not the same demographic. And I will tell you from a gentleman who had a jewelry store right in front of uh the Gulfview Mall. He was at one point Almost all the business was right from West Pasco. Slowly Wesley Chapel grew up. And got stronger and stronger. And when they started to get their retail, all of a sudden the businesses here didn't
