Storm water, homelessness, preparedness, and solid waste

Several speakers homelessness is to house people. So we also provide financial assistance to help people get rapidly rehoused, or let's not forget our award-winning project, Rosalie Rendeau Apartments, where we helped an agency purchase multifamily apartments, renovate them. And create 12 permanent supportive housing beds. So we think it's important to help our homeless neighbors get into our system of care. And the best way to do that is for them to call numbers where they can be served by the organizations that are helping our homeless. The best way to get this information. And this card would be to visit mypasco.net and contact our office, and we'd be happy to assist you.

Several speakers Homelessness has many definitions and because our funding comes from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise known as HUD, we go by their definition. It starts with people who are literally homeless. That can include people who are living in emergency shelters or transitional housing and hotels or motels, people living in cars, living in encampments or the woods, people in the streets, people in abandoned buildings. We also consider people who are fleeing from domestic violence. or human trafficking. And people who are at imminent risk of losing their housing. There's so many factors that cause homelessness. And that's why it's such a complex issue to solve. A lack of affordable housing, low-paying jobs, financial hardships, substance abuse, mental health, and mental illness. So at Community Development, we offer a number of initiatives that spam. The spectrum of homeless services for our community. Funding outreach services, fund an agency to provide homeless prevention services, renovation money for our family shelter. We also helped an agency buy a new facility for a women's shelter. So we've gone from outreach to homeless prevention to emergency. Services. But really, the key to ending

Oakley Commissioner Weightman. Thank you. So We heard about homelessness this morning and I think the east side of the county. It is probably as high as it's ever been, at least to the Noticeable to the eye visual eye. When it comes to I look at a thriving community and when you s maintain public health and safety Homelessness fits in kind of bucket one and bucket two with a hands of quality of life. Um I really want to understand. And Commissioner Oak alluded to this several you know, in different conversations throughout the Yeah. I really want to understand our options. I I want to be as disciplined as possible with how much money we throw at it because we're taking valuable Resources from our taxpayers. no choice of their own. Mariano tri-county workshop and code enforcement

Mariano So the way I understood this discussion was supposed to go, what's important to you, what do you want to see in your district? So my answer was I want to deal with the homeless, the homeless and panhaming. And then after that more homeless and panhaming. That's my focus. Okay. That's what I want to t take a look at. That's what we've got to go deal with, at least for my area. And I'm I'm not and I think every commissioner should be able to say, here's what I want to see happen. And if that means they're going to change their district, so be it. The way you have it all lined up.
