Forest Lake Estates construction traffic blocking residents

What the county recorded

This item is not from the published agenda

It is a stretch of the recording that this archive identified as a separate matter — a call to order, a recess, or something taken up that the agenda does not list. There is no official title, no staff recommendation and no disposition, because the county never recorded one. Everything below is inferred.

Uh so what before we start the regular meeting or o we open the meeting for public comment on things that are not listed on today's agenda. Is there anyone here is that's here to speak on something that's not on today's agenda? If you come forward and give me your name and address, please.

So anybody who plans to give testimony today, if you will stand, raise your right hand and be sworn.

Anybody who plans to speak.

Melanie Lamberson

I do.

Cindy Buckle

All right. I'm short so I'm gonna have to pay.

GreyChair

That's okay, it's perfect.

Cindy Buckle

But I can be loud too. Okay. My name is Cindy Buckle. I live at [address removed]. I am here to talk about the construction that's happening at County Road 54 and Gateway. the expansion of the existing Forest Lake Estates Mobile Home Park. They have consistently blocked us in. We

only have one way out. There are There are several roads, there's Sayer, there's Wood Trail, there's Frontier, Marks, and Gateway. This activity that they've been doing with the construction. Have totally blocked us from being able to leave or come in to our homes. And not only that, but they have turned frontier or Gateway into

basically a dirt road where you can't even see if someone else is in front of you. Um they consistently stop the people that are trying to exit on to 54, whether you're trying to go left or right. And they allow the construction vehicles to come in to gateway before they allow the residents out of are out on to 54 for

very wherever we need to go.

It has been backed up to ninety eight. It has also been backed up past the Chansey Road. County fifty four intersection. It's caused many, many accidents. They're not serious, but it has caused many accidents. And in my case, I had to go to the hospital and when I say I had to go to the hospital I had to go and instead of calling an ambulance, my

husband was driving me. Okay. Um we could not get out. And when I say we could not get out, we wait sometimes ten and fifteen minutes to get out. There's a lot of people that live on these roads. Forest Lake Estates alone has hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people. So I have I don't know who's doing it. Nobody

seems to be able to tell me. I don't see any F dot trucks. I just see these people with a stop sign. And then today I had a very rude person Literally Bring the sign up to the front of my vehicle and hit the front of my vehicle with it. when I was pulled up to the stop sign. And Fortunately I have a bra on the hood of my car because my car has basically been destroyed

by Rocks. I've gone through three windshields. Um And I don't I don't know who's doing it. It needs to stop though. Because ambulances couldn't even get in. Two ambulances tried to get in to Forrest Lake Estates. I was a paramedic firefighter for 15 years, and I know minutes can be a the difference between life and death. So whoever's doing this. They need to look at it and they need to

make sure they do it right. There are no kind of flashing lights, no law enforcement whatsoever anywhere around this. So

GreyChair

it's gotta stop. don't really deal with those issues be we're mainly uh land use and zoning. So um is there anybody from the county that does want to speak to it? Mr. Ingle.

David Engel

David Engel, Planning and Economic Development Director. I will speak to Ms. Buckwald because we have had issues with construction traffic access and other projects. So we're going to determine if there's a an MOT plan managing a traffic during the construction phase and see if there was a haul route or a construction route. And we'll follow up and we'll even send somebody out to talk to the uh developer in the contract. Great. I'll do that now.

GreyChair

Thank you, David.

Okay, is there anyone else? If not, uh let's move to the first um presentation.
