Commissioner Fitzpatrick Moon Lake roads and community events

2:35:12Actually I don't I've never really rode a public bus. I've rode the Metro in New York and that's about it. So I did go to the Somebody Cares event. It was a bunch of pastors and the community and everyone coming together and to serve their communities. I think what they're having on September 25th, they're gonna have their cares fest. On September 25th from 8 30 to 1 at Waterfront, they're gonna meet and then they're gonna go

2:35:42to somebody's home. Whether they're elderly or disabled or whether it was a code infraction and they're gonna go and help restore their homes and I would really like to become more of a partner with that as well. That is September twenty fifth. Next I would like to do we have the photos for Moon Lake?

2:36:09Yes, so I have some photos and There have been some roads that have been identified as an impassable by the fire department.

2:36:25uh um Commissioner if you go back Go back one. I you may not know this. I did not know this till I became a commissioner. When you see that white sign that says Wander, if it's white, we don't maintain it.

2:36:40But that's we don't maintain it. That's not it's private.

2:36:49don't do it here in that road. So unmaintained county road. It's an it's likely an un if it's in Moon Lake, it's likely an unmaintained county road. It was dedicated to the public by a plat. Most of them are out there. We have done one time fixes in Moon Lake because

2:37:42in on the roads. So I think it's very dangerous and it is a safe not only is it a safety issue and a safety concern when fire department and ambulances can't get to homes to citizens in our neighborhoods, but it's very mind boggling when you see a bus that could or could not ha may or may not have children on them and they're trying to go pick up children. It's also a quality of life concern because they're not able to get regular

2:38:40it may not be a Pasco County school bus, but there are other schools that use buses. So it is a concern, regardless, because there could be kids on that bus and it's very dangerous. So Again, there have been roads identified as impassable, such as Helford, Shalomar, Smoky Lake Loop, Hedges Street, Elsa Street, Jungle Street, and Helena Street. And I would like to make a motion to direct

2:39:10staff to obtain a one-time cost estimate and confirm if they are public roads and then consider them. For maintenance.

2:39:55I think those but those are both ask us to go do research and bring the information back.

2:40:02And if they are public roads, because the majority of those roads in Moon Lake are public roads.

2:40:07public roads. It's just not they were never accepted by maintenance by the county.

2:40:11There yeah, the there most of the most of the ones that I've had to look at, most of these plats in Moonlight are dedicated to the public. So there's, you know, a high likelihood that these are public roads. Seventy Um but I I had Told the commissioner that if they're private roads we don't even do a one-time fix on them. Right. So we'll we'll we'll public work

2:40:40will take that and build an estimate and bring it back for consideration on both items or two separate issues.

2:40:47But but I wanna underst I wanna know if the one time fix has already occurred.

2:40:52Well we'll that'll be part of the research.

2:40:54Because we all have roads in our district that are That'll that'll be part of the reason.

2:40:59You can open up a can of worms on a lot of roads like that.

2:41:02I don't mind assessing. For maintenance.

2:41:10If they're impassable, I think the board's position has been that they will do a one-time fix even if it's a multiple one-time fix. If if fire tells you that you they can't get a public room. Right. Um but It's again it's a it i we don't know what the cost of this ask is right now.

2:41:33And the fire department has gone out and has deemed that these road these roads on my in my email ha are deemed impassable. So that's why I'm asking for the one time fix or a cost estimate of the one time fix. And then also to confirm if they are public roads and then third would consider them for maintenance at that point when you bring back the information.

And Steven Spellman, a 9-11 firefighter, loaned a piece of the fire truck to the premium outlets to hang in. the Memorial Wall and I

2:42:40would just like to dedicate to him and I would also like to honor the heroes and remember to never forget 9-11, the 2,977 victims, the 343 firefighters, the seventy-two law enforcement officers, and over twenty-five thousand people that were injured that day. So thank you.
