    Brentford Adumwa The Hidden Lake Project, Stormwater Project Like any other stormwater project that we do, it's not related to the road, you know, it's related to taking homes out of the flooded area. So I cannot say that that project is gonna address flooding on that particular road. the main thing that we do in terms of benefit cost ratio is addressing the stormwater. Flooding. And homes. But not necessarily on roads. So I cannot tell you that that project is gonna fix flooding on this particular road. Yeah.

    Mariano that goes all the way down there. was one that is an integral part as far as water quality goes. That would actually take stormwater out into the Gulf and create more flow into the Gulf. The other channels to above would help with water quality substantially. And Commissioner Weightmany times, and you made the comment before, as far as I am okay to do dredging with with stormwater funds and and to making sure we are dredging these canals out there, they are going to help with the with stormwater. And the Commission supported step uh the state expenditure plan for part three for the Port Ritchie outfall. Everybody's seen the map and I want to say staff is doing a phenomenal job tying those in together working with Swift Mud. Uh in the meeting we had with David Deloche, the mayor, the manager, and our team, we talked very clearly about how the water quality would be affected and the stormwater benefits to it. Now when the presentation was done with Swift Mud from what I understand, we broke it into parts. You can break it down, you can combine it together. The benefit was probably doing one large project

    Starkey three hours discussion the other day, last week. about how you can bring stormw take stormwater projects and turn them into really amazing projects for the community. Utili if everyone pools their resources together. And uh they showed us projects. The engineering firm was Genesis. They said they worked with you in Texas, by the way, in El Paso. Uh ha half. This uh this engineering firm called H A L F F Engineering purchased Genesis. If you guys remember Genesis, they've been around here for a long time. They were in Tampa. Um They've done these kind of projects all around the country and they showed us one in in Houston where they took a stormwater project and turned it into ball fields and improve the flooding, okay. Um and the area still floods. They've got a skateboard park because it's all concrete, right? Concrete can go underwater and not get wrecked up. Um so when when that river or tributary, whatever it was, floods The fields go under the Benches go under, the skate park goes under. But When the flooding's gone they clean it up and there's their park again. So they they've stopped the the flooding from going out into the streets. Is that the Houston

    Mariano Thank you. Yes, um well I think as everyone knows, we've been working on dredging For over three and a half years now. We started with Port Ritchie Dredge through the B P Restruct money to try to help them with their dredging going up and down. Uh they had talked many years ago about assessing their residents about $1,000. As we look at going up and down the whole coast, Um That was the number that came out. Wasn't my number? came from the city itself. So As we were getting close to looking at doing the Port Richey Outfall Project, which runs from Magnolia Valley all the way to that stormwater pond. I figured we need to get public support that is out there. And I think everybody lives in one of those silted-in channels that, as as you know, Commissioner Weightman, you have talked about it before, you'd even put stormwater money in to go kind of clean those edge canals in to get silted in to help with stormwater issues. It was back like two months ago I sent that letter out to the people, I showed them the new map. uh that had the stormwater outfall project to the northern part and also to the southern part. So I kind of showed them what was going on, talked about it, and

    Mariano all together. Having said that. Something when I look at the narrative That's being submitted to Treasury. It talks about the opening as far as having 25 severely impacted water bodies and finger canals within the city limits. Channels fourteen through eighteen will directly connect into a stormwater pond along Old Post Road. Has a connection and can be a potential connection that will definitely help with the stormwater flow. It will also help the water. With all the properties on there, which there's been a lot of willingness for people to donate into it. dredge out those canals, which will help with water quality, which is what this thing's all about. So knowing that we are looking at twenty-five civilian impacted channels, we've got a project that abuts working with Swift MUD right now to it. And even if we can't use it with the stormwater benefit, the water quality benefit is there. And that should be looked at before we pick make this thing going forward.     Mariano there I think their stormwater fee is about forty dollars, fifty dollars or so. Uh the mayor actually talked about even taking a look at bringing that up, and that could be a funding source as well that we could go through. So maybe the people in the canal they pay that extra thousand, and then maybe it's we have to be a good thing. start drawing from their stormwater utility fund, which is what is directly going to help these people, maybe that is the way to go. So I'm just trying to keep the ideas going out there and trying to make sure we make a a good decision that works well for all the citizens.
