- Sheriff budget, deputies and gap insurance
Oakley Forty percent of the citizens of Pasco County and forty percent of our workers uh need affordable housing. And what they c some people call affordable housing right now in Pasco is not affordable housing. People cannot live in the places because they're but I know it costs too much.
- Housing need cost burden and policy tools
Oakley I think you find out in in Pasco. Most of the houses, new homes being built, are way over three hundred thousand dollars. I mean they're four hundred thousand, five hundred thousand and not affordable for most people. I mean it takes two red winners working in a in a home bringing in good pay to be able to afford one of those houses. Absolutely. We uh We need a lot of housing that is affordable for our workers that are coming in for jobs we're bringing in. uh all over the county. We don't have the housing for them yet, but we have to be and that's why we're having this meeting, 'cause we know we need workforce housing. So
- PDD-230307 built-to-rent single-family platting policy
Oakley They're not affordable. 'Cause twelve hundred square foot Three bedroom, two bath. twenty two, twenty four hundred dollars there's There's not many people can afford to do that. That's a rental, but it's a house. But I wouldn't consider those affordable housing. Commission Wayne.
- P35An Ordinance by the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners Amending Ordinance No. 21-08 to Expand the Moratorium Area; Providing for Authority; Legislative Findings of Fact; Moratorium Area; Temporary Moratorium Imposed; and Severability.
Oakley Right. The problem with this issue and and we've seen it grow pretty good is not affordable housing because these houses, these apartments are renting for $2,000, $2,200 a month. That's not affordable housing for people. We do need affordable housing in our county. Um but some of this housing is is not for jobs in our county, but for jobs in other counties nearby. And so we need to focus on jobs in our county and housing in our county. And because of this moratorium, We've had other areas of the county. that have come up with some multifamily uh projects. that wouldn't have come up if this was still open and they could come here. But it's in other areas of our county that we're going to get some of the uh multifamily housing up.
- R53Discussion on the Subject of Single Family Detached Lots that are between 40 and 50 Feet Wide and on the Subject of Standards for Townhomes
Oakley our own workforce we probably have twenty point five percent of our workforce for the county The need's affordable. And we probably it it gets bigger than that, it gets in the forty percent range for the whole county itself for affordable products. $300,000 home is not affordable.
- Affordable housing study and all commissioners present
Oakley What's good? Uh Kathy I'm gonna say one thing uh as we're starting. I did find an agenda. I wanna let everyone in put on notice that everyone, all five commissioners are present. And that we're going forward with the workshops. Okay.
- P eighty-three Central Pasco Employment Village comprehensive plan text amendment
Oakley Well I think w if I if I may go back really quick for the on the affordable housing point. Um the current Sibberia policy doesn't mandate. I know I've read I've read it. Yeah. Just because It's it says to provide a strategy for it. So it doesn't preclude us from continuing to do affordable housing. It's just that provision itself has been uh removed from this project in the same way that it's been removed in other projects.
