- R-58 school zone speed cameras and safety systems
Kathryn Starkey And I I think that our legislature who passed the language to allow this to happen went through all of this 'Cause and I think this passed quite with very high numbers. Do you know the numbers in Tallahassee?
- R-58 school zone speed cameras and safety systems
Kathryn Starkey Um one uh a nice second that I do have a question. What what are the lengths of these contracts? So if we decide it isn't working for us, can we cancel the contract? So are are are they? I think you could
- R-58 school zone speed cameras and safety systems
Kathryn Starkey I'm gonna echo everything that Commission Commissioner Yeager Yeager said. I I think it's the ticket that's gonna change the behavior and if I would not be for them anywhere else in the county. Um but I am a hundred percent for them in school zones. And my understanding is once they start giving the tickets the speeding starts dropping drastically. Drastically. So Um and as far as Mitty P. Lock, I I've called I've called the school district on that one because There is no school at Mini Pilock anymore. I
- R-58 school zone speed cameras and safety systems
Kathryn Starkey In the central happening, and then um to do okay. And a regular item we haven't gotten to yet, right? So I don't know if you want to do it now or later. Harold's gonna be here this afternoon. We have a statewide meeting I have to jump on.
- Board member reports on county issues
Kathryn Starkey I and I I just can't imagine that that is built legally. I hope it's not. I I I mean I hope that we require more than that in our landscape code. Um I wanted to talk to y'all about um red light cameras and school zones. Um maybe some of you have also talked to people about this. Um Hillsboro County just passed an ordinance um that will suspend uh wait, well wait I wanna talk about that ordinance yet. Last year the legislat I think it was last year approved the ability to put red light cameras in school zones. And I don't want them all around that county like they have in Newport, Richie, and other places. But I I am Um considering and would like to t us to have discussion if we think red light cameras are appropriate in a school zone. People frequently zoom in those those areas and it's very I mean go fast.
- P51 Blackwell MPUD rezoning on Hudson Avenue
Kathryn Starkey if a speed bump put in by the county. Would help Slow down um slow down traffic on Hazel so we don't have high school kids speeding until some of these other maybe some of these other accesses are um put in. But Um That's a thought because I don't want to see anyone speeding down Hazel and it's a straight road and it's very wide. And so Um people could speak. When I drove on it, I drove on it twice. I I was the only car. I th I think there was a truck leaving the first time I was on it. But I drove all around the neighborhoods.
- Board member reports on county issues
Kathryn Starkey I think it's the same kind of technology that they have, um that some cities have that we didn't want in the county. But they would put these in the school zone. So if if you've not heard much about this, um we'll have maybe my office can send some something out, but I think protecting kids in school zones is a good thing, personally.
- P75Zoning Amendment (Consent) – BMC 31722 SR 52 LLC – Change in Zoning from a C-2 General Commercial District with Deed Restriction to a C-2 General Commercial District with Amended Deed Restriction – Central Pasco County – On the South Side of County Road 52 Approximately .50 Mile East of Mirada Boulevard – Containing Approximately 9.82 Acres
Kathryn Starkey I'm not sure that's what I was asking. Um, if i i are there different design standards for a high speed state road versus what should be a lower speed county road that's now a more neighborhood road, right? I mean it's not you don't anticipate the same kind of traffic that or speed that would be on Clinton that would be on Old County. County Administrator. So What is the speed limit on County Road 52?
- Commissioner reports on community events and tours
Kathryn Starkey Oh what I what I was wondering on that, if they're hanging out under our under the Sun Coast Bridges um and doing illicit activity, why don't we see if we can't put some cameras under there? And then we could have an eye on it and then maybe send law enforcement if we need to. But certainly we could have some some game some cameras under those bridges.
- Introduction of minimum wake zone ordinance Gulf Islands Lagoon
Kathryn Starkey It needs to be uh uh uh a no uh there needs to be um Slow speed. Or watch for the bandatees or whatever they do. And whatever you're putting over here, we need to extend it to that portion in there. And can you zoom in
- Video of boats speeding through divers
Kathryn Starkey You know, I I have a video in here, I won't pull it up 'cause we've been talking a long time but Last year when we were scalloping in New Port in in Pasco on the inside of Anclote Quay I couldn't believe the boats that were speeding through while divers were in the water.
- Commissioner own business
Kathryn Starkey And um And now you it kinda rings the bell that I think the sheriff has asked to be at the table uh in those discussions and what comes to my mind is the trouble that we're having in Copper Spring. So in the design of that neighborhood, there is a cut through that where people are speeding and um sheriff is having to be out there all the time um dealing with the people speeding through the middle of that neighborhood.
