Approved Staff’s recommendation with the additional conditions of working to get a school bus stop on both sides of the road if possible for the project, an eight foot wide sidewalk using the pedestrian portion of the mobility fees as far as they could towards Cobra Way, and streetlights are to be done along the property line.

No action was required as this was the first public hearing. The adoption hearing was set for the January 9, 2024 Board of County Commissioners meeting at 1:30 p.m. in Dade City.
Starkey if a speed bump put in by the county. Would help Slow down um slow down traffic on Hazel so we don't have high school kids speeding until some of these other maybe some of these other accesses are um put in. But Um That's a thought because I don't want to see anyone speeding down Hazel and it's a straight road and it's very wide. And so Um people could speak. When I drove on it, I drove on it twice. I I was the only car. I th I think there was a truck leaving the first time I was on it. But I drove all around the neighborhoods.
Starkey I'm not sure that's what I was asking. Um, if i i are there different design standards for a high speed state road versus what should be a lower speed county road that's now a more neighborhood road, right? I mean it's not you don't anticipate the same kind of traffic that or speed that would be on Clinton that would be on Old County. County Administrator. So What is the speed limit on County Road 52?
Starkey Multifamily housing units are between Chauncey Road and State Road 54 on Bruceby Downs. There are no traffic lights between these two. This has led to it being a high-speed straight uh straight section of road. For several businesses and roads on the western side of this road, this means that if you want to head north, they have they have no choice but to right turn and go down to the traffic light at Chauncey Road to make a U turn in order to head north. By placing a large number of residents in this area, it will only exasperate the problem. Two, schools at capacity. Our schools in the area are already at capacity and there are still community building build communities building new homes as it is. Multifamily units will overload the local schools. The school system cannot currently keep up with the rate of growth in the area and that it will just uh and that it will address growth growth from fam single family homes. Brandon Kelly.
Starkey Well I I th personally think when staff was recommending The access you should've you should have done the study. You should have Should have looked at it, but I think you can just extrapolate like you did from the numbers. It's not six hundred cars a day. Also there will be uh one day maybe a benefit to Hazel. P folks on Hazel to go other ways if there's an accident out there on Cobra. And to avoid the to avoid the pile up at Cobra and Hudson during the day. Um they can go out they would be able to go out another way and get on Hudson. rather than get stuck in the mess. of that intersection during school hours. So it's beneficial to both. However, I I know high school students. Um I've had four of 'em. And I'm not saying mine ever did this, but I can see where some kids may inappropriate drive too fast on Hazel. Um and I wonder
Starkey Yeah, but can the lanes is it it a s short is it a slower speed so the lanes don't need to be as wide? I mean I just saw just wondering if if rules change in the engineering world for all of the same standards. Yeah.
